America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Why is HP being so cheap this year?

Is it just me or have all their promotions been duds this year? Especially, when you compare them to AS's "Fly 35 segments, get 100k" promo.
The 5k promo's are barely worth doing, and the 500 mile booking bonus is among the lamest in the industry. To top it all off, their prices didn't seem all that spectacular(at least to me).
Im wondering if their recently accounced profit came at the expense of mileage opportunities.

I agree with you. For a so called "low cost" airline, their prices aren't so low on my weekly PHX-EWR haul.

You guys must be on differnet flights than I am. 1st off they upgrade you to FC just for being an Elite member. 2nd their fares to SAN SFO SJC LAS are dirt cheap. 60 bucks RT WOW. Am West has turned things around IMO.
Got out of the Heat with the SO last week for 80 each. Would take 100 in gas atleast to drive it.

Ken,
I was speaking more about the east coast fares.
I do agree about the west coast fares. Im heading up to OAK this weekend.
I still wish they were more like AS. They've become a little stale over the past year. Maybe it's just me.

PHX-EWR huh? I did that gig for 19 months. I'm sooo glad that I'm working local now. Back when I was doing it, I would have to change a ticket every so often. The price would shoot up from $400 to about $2200 to make the change. Glad they dropped the Sat night stay and 2 week advance purchase thing. Of course, I would pass the cost on to the client since they were the ones requesting the schedule change.
I can't beleive they removed food from these flights! In the wintertime, with bad winds, you can have a flying time of 6 hours. Rediculous if you ask me. They should at least have the buy on board option on those long hauls. Almost everyone on the 6:00 Thursday flight home was a regular. And like me, they we always rushed to get to the airport in time to make the flight. Doesn't seem right to starve 150 people but give 12 other a lame snack for such a long flight.
