America West Offers First-Class Fares Up to 70 Percent Off

HP today announced a first-class sale with fares as low as $149 each way in the U.S. and Canada. These fares represent discounts of up to 70 percent off of America West's normal first-class fares and are lower than the coach fares charged by some other airlines.
"We encourage customers who fly other low-fare carriers that don't have first class seating to give America West a try," said Scott Bowers, vice president, revenue management.

These special fares are available for purchase now through Aug. 25, 2003, with travel good through Nov. 24, 2003. America West's standard 50 percent FlightFund mileage bonus for first-class ticket purchases applies on these special fares. Customers who purchase tickets at www.americawest.com (http://www.americawest.com) also receive an additional 500 bonus miles.

The sample fares listed below are each way, based on roundtrip purchase.

Just be reminded the new HP first class features a slightly better seat, but no more hot meals (only snack plate -- pretty lame)... But at least it still has lots of nuts and cocktails flowing through the cabin, but still pack a lunch!

Hi, are these regular F class fares then? Question, do you guys who might also be in AA's program know if AA will honor this fare for status points? BA does not recognize HP travel for their Tier Points (status points), only for mileage. But in AA's case, I am wondering...

AA and HP have no frequent flyer alliance whatsoever.

Yes, miles on qualifying fares, but no tier points for flying HP.

Wish AWE would do the same in the DC-LA market:

Walk-up RT fares IAD-LAX:
AA, UA $2400
JB $598 (IAD-LGB)
SW $598 (BWI-LAX)

7 day adv fares w/Sat stay IAD-LAX:
AA, UA $2400
JB, SW ~$399
AWE ~$280 (DCA-LAX, 1 stop in LAS)*
AWE ~$440 (DCA-LAS) (same plane that continues on to LAX for $160 less, so if you are going to LAS rent a car and drive across the desert RT instead)*

* comp elite upgrade, reciprocal for AA Golds/Plats (to AWE Silver/Gold)
