Hello,

My parents have their first flight on AW coming up later on this month (YYZ-LAS, LAS-YYZ). I have signed them up for Trial Silver Elite for 90 days and had a few questions regarding upgrades and lounge access.

1) Will they automatically be upgraded after their upgrade window has passed or do they have to be put on a waitlist for them to qualify for the upgrade.

2) For the intent of lounge access at LAS, would YYZ be considered an international destination so that a membership would not be required to access the America West club.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.

1. They should get upgraded at midnite of the nite before their flight, if there is still availability. You might want to call.

2. NO

jan_az,

Thanks for the quick and helpful response. Does Mexico qualify as an International destination, if not is the only way for lounge access to buy a membership.

I'm not sure about Mexico - but I dont think so. You can buy a day pass for $35

There are no HP destinations that come with lounge access for F customers. The only way in is the membership routes or daily passes.

I fly the YYZ-LAS regularly and I can tell you it's one of the easiest routes to upgrade. Your parents won't have any problems upgrading as Silvers. The upgrades should auomatically clear midnight the day of departure. If they don't, you can call HP and they will do it manually. If there aren't any upgrade seats available, the counter at YYZ will do it. This flight is seldom full. Last time I took it, I was the only one sitting in F http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif While there is no meal service on this flight, the F seats are comfortable and they'll have free drinks, headsets, and F gourmet snackmix.

As for the Club, I don't think it's ever complimentary for anyone. You would have to buy a day pass or have a membership in either the HP or NW clubs. While the club in LAS is nice, I wouldn't worry about not having access to it because it's outside security.

Thank jan_, AZ Travels The World, and FlyerAl.

Also, thanks FlyerAl, I read your post on the AC forum regarding the trail silver elite and took advantage of it for my parents upcoming trip.
