America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Slow "A" Gates elite security line at sky harbor

Did anyone else have trouble with the Terminal 4 elite security line yesterday morning? I had a 7:15 AM flight and the line was SLOW. Seriously, the non-elite line moved faster and people who arrived after me skipped through that line faster than I got through elite (25 minutes).

Did AmWest change something about how they run the elite line? They had us all routed through Line 3 while the non-elite line had 1 and 2 (it was roped off in between).

Was that a fluke yesterday?

It was about 15 minutes today around 7am... about the same speed as the non-elite line. Nobody was checking boarding passes/elite cards, so anybody who wanted to could go through the "elite" security line.

Today's line was also routed through checkpoint 3, with non-elites in 1 and 2.

Yeah, it sounds like something is wrong there... a training issue over the cards especially.

I contacted HP customer service a few months ago after a guy got through with a Platinum FlightFund VISA card.... HP wrote me back and said that shouldn't have happened and that they would improve their training.

I hope they fix the security line situation for next week's Monday rush.

If I am flying out of the A gates at PHX, I will usually go to the B side since the lines are by far shorter due to the larger number of express and international flights. The express flights are mostly connections and not so much O & D, and the international flights are few in number. Last time I flew out of PHX on HP I had no wait in front of me at 7:30am in the non-elite line on the B side.

I normally fly out of PRC, however I will be originating in PHX on HP this Saturday so I will keep my eye out for line lengths.

I so the same as A320 and use the elite line at the A gates. Always a breeze as I fly out weekly at different times and days.
