America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Bumped to Delta
America West put me on a Delta flight since its own flight was delayed. I did not ask to be put on Delta - they just did it.
Will I get Delta miles, or will I get the America West miles? Or is there a chance I get neither?
Also, how long does it take for miles to post? The website says 5 days, and its 6 days for me already and no miles.
FYI - I got 100% upgrades as Silver elite on this trip.
Thanks to all on this board.

You can probably get miles on whichever airline you like. I know you can get HP miles by mailing them a copy of your boarding pass & your e-ticket confirmation number with a note that says they bumped you over to Delta but you would like your HP miles. They've done this for me before.
I don't know anything about the SkyMiles program, but I suspect they'll give you the miles there if you want them. I suppose the challenge is getting miles in both. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

You said you got 100% Uppgraded, does this mean you got Delta put you in First?

I seem to recall that several years ago, if you got bumped to Delta from another airline, you could get away with earning miles for both programs. Has anybody been able to do this recently?

I'm pretty sure this is the policy: if it;s an involuntary reroute onto another carrier, you can claim the miles you would have flown on your original ticket, as well as the miles you actually flew with the other carrier.
You may run into a snag if both require original boarding passes-- but if you slide the new carrier's FF number into their record, miles should post automatically.
So, aim for double dipping and receiving credit on both carriers.
Thanks, all.
I had to make multiple calls, but HP finally credited me with the miles, including the silver elite bonus.
Now the next challenge is to double dip with Delta.

Something similar happened to me last November. The flight I was in from GEG to PHX had engine problems, and was cancelled. I was moved over to an Alaska flight to SEA, then took an HP flight from SEA-PHX.
I received miles for the Alaska flight, on my existing account there, as well as received the miles for SEA-PHX, which was a little more than it would have been for GEG-PHX.
The Alaska flight credited with no problems, as did the HP. This was slightly different though, as I did still end up flying an HP flight.
Good luck on getting the Delta miles!
