Can anybody confirm that there is no flightfund miles earned if the ticket or portion of the ticket is exchanged thru voucher. I got the voucher thru overpayment from a previous America West flight.

Welcome to FT! Getting a voucher for overpaying I can't guarantee you will get miles on, but, if you have a FlightFund number and buy your ticket using a Future Travel Award, you will not get any miles. As for as I know, no miles are awarded on ANY voucher.

You are right in that you will not recieve miles for voucher travel. It's treated just like an award flight.

However, Im not sure how a ticket is treated if it's paid with cash and a voucher.

No matter what......a voucher used=no miles. I have argued with them for years that if I have a voucher for $50. and I am paying $300. why no miles? they just don't care.

They are the only airline that enforces this pathetic rule. When an airline issues a voucher, it's because they screw up, and the passengers give up their seat to accomodate the other passengers (oversell situation). The passenger shouldn't be penalized by not earning miles because of the airline screw up, but AWA doesn't see it that way. The only thing I can defend with AWA is that they hand out $500 vouchers like candy, so not giving miles on top of those saves some sort of money, because rest assured they are losing plenty by handing out so many vouchers.

The airline has improved, but needs to limit the number of over capacity seats it sells. A still poorly runned airline!

Technically no they aren't supposed to earn miles. If your FF number ends up being put in your record the miles will accrue. It's happened more than once http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

That would explain a lot then. My sister and I flew to JFK last year, both on Future Travel Awards. AWA refused to give me credit while my sister got it. Flaws, I love them!
