Is it me or did they recently increase this? I thought it was 100k for a BA first flight between the US and EU.

Something is messed up because i just called flight fund and they said it is still 100,000 miles but the America West web site shows 120,000 miles for first class

Woohoo! I hope you're right. Although, 20k wouldn't make much difference. Just don't like to see award levels rise.

Good news: It is a mistake and is in the process of being corrected. I called the International Partner Awards desk at HP and inquired. The lady I checked with was certain that it was a mistake, then checked with her management about it. She was told that it is definitely a mistake, that they're aware if it, and it will be corrected soon.
Apparently, in setting up award charts to include Hawaiian Airlines, they broke out the charts by individual airline partner differently than in the past and a typo was made. It will be corrected soon.
Whew!

A 100,000 first class award on BA is an outstanding value. I'm jealous (I'm an AWA shareholder, but most of my miles are in OnePass). And, if what you guys have said about easy availability is true, what a deal. It's also nice that they let you stop in London for free on your way to the Continent.
Between that award and the new Hawaiian alliance, I would think AWA would have most of the local ff business locked up, especially in PHX and LAS. Given that AWA is also generous in awarding miles (especially that internet bonus), it would seem foolish to fly LUV (unless you don't care for first class and don't want to travel beyond the southwest).

Southwest Airlines has a much better shorthaul schedule out of Phoenix than America West. Also, the 3,000 mile bonus is set to expire in December. Southwest's double credit bonus has been extended until April.

Yeah, it is. I almost feel like Im cheating BA or HP. I say "almost" becuase I haven't flown on a BA award yet. If a platinum/gold member flew only 20 trips this year to SAN on their weekend/sale fares, he could earn a FC BA ticket for a little less than $2000 versus the $12000 it normally costs.

But you have to admit that HP is the better overall value. SW has no airline partners which give little value to their rapid rewards. Plus HP's 3000 mile bonus is probably the most generous and most easily attainable bonus available today.
