An agent in Denver last night explained to me that HP designates flights that connect to others in their hubs as "star" flights. All measures are taken to protect and preserve the departure of these flights.

I was not so luck to have booked a non-star 1830 departure yesterday DEN-PHX. Flight was cancelled before the scheduled departure from Phoenix. Actually received a call from res to advise and rebook. Was rebooked on 1945 departure which, of course, left an hour late.

The DEN agent told me (in code) that the 1830 and 1945 flights are both cancelled on a somewhat regular basis only inconveniencing PHX terminating passengers.

That's good to know. I pop over to awatoday.com to sneak a glance at HP's operational performance every now and then, and I've always wondered what "STAR" departures were.

I'm sure other airlines have a similar designation for "priority flights."
