Las Vegas - Best Seafood Buffet?

After living in Argentina for the past year and a half, I have had my share of great beef but not so great seafood. But I will be coming up to Vegas for a Mon-Wed Night stay in July. Who on the strip has the best seafood buffet? Is it offered every night? Particularly like fresh shrimp, grilled salmon, crab legs and lobster. Thanks for any advice.

I've heard Rio, but I've not had it. Flamingo is way overrated: mediocre seafood, & lots of it.
Best bet for non-buffet seafood is McCormick & Schmick off the strip. A small chain, admittedly, but based in the bay area and well worth your time.
Buffets in Vegas still do a big business, but it seems the focus is shifting more & more to gourmet (expensive) restaurants in the casinos.

I just got back from Las Vegas and the Aladin Spice Market Buffet is the Best for Seafood They Have King Crab Legs (the big spikey ones not junk snow crab) and other gourmet menu items $20 a person If you join the slots tournament for$25 in the Aladin Casino you get a free buffet voucher.and a $10 slot play voucher also could win big on the tournament GET THERE EARLY BEFORE DINNER OR YOU WILL WAIT IN LINE FOR HOURS I SAW MANY SAD FACES AS WE CUT IN LINE WITH OUR VIP VOUCHERS FROM THE CASINO.

There are many places in Las Vegas to get superb seafood but none of them is a buffet.
McCormick & Schmick's started in Portland, OR. I haven't been to the one in Vegas but their Northwest restaurants are good.
Aqua is the best seafood restaurant in town. It is located in Bellagio.

If you want buffet, without a doubt it's the RIO Seafood Buffet. It's over $30 per person but well worth it.

When was the last time you were there? Both the Rio buffets have gone way downhill since Harrah's took over.

Agreed w/ QL. The Rio buffet is 'ok', but not worth $30 per IMO.
The best bang for the buck would be the Fremont downtown. They have a special seafood night at their Paradise buffet.
The Aladdin and Bellagio also have decent quality crab legs. However, they aren't specifically a seafood buffet.

I agree. Though the buffet at the Bellagio technically isn't called a "seafood" buffet, they have some good seafood. I can recall good smoked salmon and absolutely delicious white and black seasme crusted salmon. Yummy.
I found the Bellagion to have a lot of seefood.

Most of my meals in Las Vegas are comped. I only mention this because it removes price from my comments below:
Rio Seafood Buffet - Ate there on May 14th. Food quality varied significantly. Lobster was small and tough, only had one of those. By small, I mean meat the size of your thumb. They honestly had shrimp that were larger. Shrimp were good quality, but you had to peel your own. Sushi was pretty good. Salmon was not worth eating. Overall, I would not wait in line for the buffet, nor spend my own money (or even comp dollars) on it. Just not worth it.
Bellagio buffet - No lobster, but large peeled shrimp, already cracked crab legs and EXCELLENT sushi. In addition to all the other meats/fish/salad available. One of the better things about the Bellagio buffet is the desserts are the same as those prepared for thier higher end resturants. But at $24-32 per buffet (depending on time/day of week) it is by far the most pricey buffet but certainly worth it! Tip - They change from lunch to dinner around 4 or 4:30. Show up 15 minutes or so before changeover and get in for the lower lunch price. Gamble more than 5 minutes in the place and ask a host for a line pass.
Aladdin - The best value for the money buffet. Similar food items/quality as the Bellagio, just not the same variety, and the desserts are a step down. But as the "B" is charging over $30, the Aladdin was recently in the 18.95 range (could be out dated though). Tip - Play in their "no risk" slot tournament, pay $20, get $20 in slot play, if you don't win, you still get tickets for the buffet. Pretty good value, and a chance to win. Your buffet ticket is also a line pass, so no waiting!
Good Luck!

You might try that Fremont seafood buffet that HockeySTL mentioned. I haven't been for 10 years or so but I remember liking it then. I believe it's only certain nights.
But it depends on what experience you're looking for. If cost is not an object, the 7-course tasting menu at Aqua is far better than any buffet and is almost all seafood.

Speaking of dining at Aqua, Mrs. UA835's favorite dish at the Bellagio buffet is their Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass ... she had the same dish at Aqua, as part of their 5 course tasting menu, and couldn't tell the difference between it and what was generally available at the Buffet! Needless to say, the waitstaff was a little put off when she asked if it was the same recipe. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

That's quite a compliment to the buffet chef!

I like the Freemont. You get Maine lobster claws but no body. The Rio has the body (small) but no claws.
I hear that Ellis Island has a King Crab Buffet on Wed.
The Vegas Buffet is often some folks only chance to finally "get even" with the house.
