I just returned home from a 3 night stay at the Venetian. It was my first time to Vegas and I attended a conference. I thought the hotel was beautiful and HUGE. I didn’t have much time to see much of the city since I was kept so busy by the conference. I did make it across the street to the Mirage for dinner.

Who says it’s not good to be a smoker?

I arrived late on Sunday night. The hotel was sold out. I must have forgotten to request a smoking room, and I mentioned to the clerk that I wanted one. BUT, there weren’t any available. So, after a few phone calls she gave me a smoking room.

Up to the 27th floor I went. And I’m walking & walking & walking down the hallway until I reach this room with double doors. It was at the end of the hallway. I walked into the largest hotel room I have ever seen. I was given a Piazza suite. I think the website said it was 1500 sq ft. It had 3 TVs, 2 bathrooms, an enormous living room, dining room with wet bar, and a Jacuzzi in the master bath. I think I counted 6 telephones plus a fax machine. I thought I died and went to hotel room heaven. I could have arrived without any toiletries at all and not have missed everything. The room was equipped with everything from bubble bath to sponges to toothbrushes. Too bad I was alone and busy most of the time. I could have moved into this room, easily. What I thought would have really completed the "business" picture was high speed access. I would have moved in and been able to really get work done with it!

My view wasn’t that great. It was of the new tower, though I could see some of the strip. The wall of windows in the living room gave me a good amount of amusement watching the crane lift stuff onto the terraces of the new tower. While having seen my share of large buildings being built, I’ve never been so close to one. There wasn’t any construction noise. I believe that they’re planning on opening it next month. It looks pretty complete from the outside.

Will I go back? Most likely yes. I think I’d like to spend 3 or 4 days exploring the city and it’s hotels. We’re not big gamblers, but I’m sure that the shows & other amusements would keep us pretty busy. I never had a chance to check out the Canyon Ranch Spa, and that would also be on my list.

All in all, I had a good time and left feeling like I missed seeing the city, which I did.

Now, I joined the slot Players club, managed to get about 80 points. I never asked what that means. Does anyone know?

You should expect to receive some sort of room offer from Marketing. Possibly 2 free nights, but more likely something around $79/$99 (weekend).

Go to their website and sign up to receive their email specials.
