Las Vegas - Taxi in Vegas... how much to tip?

Title says it all...

My taxi tips for regular length rides ($0-12) are usually the change rounded up plus $1. That's how I tip everywhere.

For longer rides, I'll tip more, usually around 15-20%.

If the drive is good or bad, I'll adjust accordingly.

If you're going to a strip club or brothel, you can probably tip less, as drivers get a kickback from the venue. Some drivers offer to take pax to these places for free, since they get so much back. At brothels, limo drivers can pick up well over $1000 cash from the house.

In Vegas, any reasonable tip will be met with by a scowl from the driver, who is always hoping for a jackpot. Just add 10% and round up.

Agree with QuietLion.

Tipping for taxi drivers in Las Vegas is the same as elsewhere in the US. 10% for acceptable service is the general norm.

I advise renting. Just dropped off my Neon at the Dollar booth this afternoon, paying a whopping $21 for the day, taxes included. Was given a PT Cruiser last summer when they were out of economy.

If you don't want to deal with the free parking garages, use the free valet, tipping maybe $2-$3.

When the monorail opens, it may be a moot issue.
