Anyone have comments on experience doling out the Above & Beyond Employee Recognition Certs? Employees happy to get them, do they really get much recognition from them, etc....

Any stories associated with handing one out would be great too!

It goes to the employee's supervisor and into the employee record. Of course, it only makes them look better and feel good when you hand out something like that to them. I gave two each to my local ticket agents here, and they are deeply appreciated.

It does have real value to them as well. If they accumulate 10 A&B certificates they get a confirmed space ticket that they can use for themselves or give to someone else. I gave one to an FA last week who was very pleased. She was trying to bring her parents out to PHX for the holidays and she had already gotten one ticket for one of her parents and this was her 9th A&B so she was talking about just needing one more.

I give mine out blank and let the employee decide what they want to do with them.I was told they have a "market value" of about $20.Whenever I've given one out, they always seemed very appreciative.

The above posts are all correct. -Including the one indicating that the certificates have a market value of ~$20. Several coworkers (not AWA) gave me their certs last year, and I rec'd six at silver, gold, and platinum.

-Think that I gave out 30 certificates, usually six at a time. The AWA staff were invariably pleased upon receipt, and I guess that I would be as well if I were to receive a $120 tip.

If you fly the same route with the same crew every week, these can come in really handy - especially when an upgrade doesn't clear.

I used to make sure all my regular F/A's between PHX and EWR were well stocked with them from me. Can't remember the last time I paid for a drink in coach.
