I'm planning a vacation to Las Vegas in the near future and I want to use my british airways miles on America West. First class is 45000 miles. Is it worth it on their flights from NYC to Las Vegas? I see that the planes are A320's which have only one aisle down the middle, similar to the 757. Usually on the 757's the first class is just a leather seat with 10 inches more of legroom, so does their service really make it worth the extra miles in this case?
Thanks

I don't know the exact dates of your trip, but I'm guessing you can get a fare of about $200. I would pay that then I would use 10k miles to upgrade. If you felt it was worth it, you could do it again on the return. Also they have a walkup upgrade purchase option but I'm not sure how much it is.

Of course, it depends on your stature. Being 6'3" and 235lbs, I would say yes. Although I've san in coach many times on EWR - LAS/PHX too. Of course, those flights are always packed to the gills.

You might want to try this:

If possible, get a flight on an A319. They have the most comfortable coach cabins. Get to the airport early and ask for seats 10A or 10F. You get more leg room than the people in F since there are no seats 9A or 9F.

Note this only works on an A319 - the 320 does not have the missing seats in the exit row.

America West Airlines First Class cabins do not offer that much legroom (far less than 10 extra inches, in fact). I've found the seating to be a little tight. The extra seat width is very nice, though.
