America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - I tried again...this time it was great

I flew to DCA from PHX last week, and had the best FC service I've ever encountered on a domestic AWA flight...very luxurious; the plane looked like it was about to fall apart, but I was treated nicely...very formal service. That was on Thursday. Sunday's return flight was not even close...better plane, but lousy service and no attempt to treat FC customers any better other than the meal. Why so inconsistent? You'd think either way to/from the hub would at least be consistent...good, or bad???
Thank God my miles can still go to OnePass.

I have flown HP first class many times between PHX and NYC. Service tends to be fine, but your right, sometimes service is much better than other times. I still think CO offers more consistent service, still being better than AWA.

i dont fly hp that often, but they do come thru for me in a pinch when i need a low priced ticket at the last minute.
i think they have one of the best products in the airline market. they just have a problem with execution. of course, the same can be said for ua.

I agree—I flew 225k miles on DL last year and have switched this year to CO as a result of poor customer service and horrible upgrade policies with Delta. I then started to fly HP as a result of their relationship with CO. After 40 segments on HP, I am converted!
HP's first class product is better than NW, DL and CO's domestic first class and the food is better than Singapore Air's business class product. That is quite an accomplishment considering SQ’s reputation.
As an aside, it is refreshing to deal with an airline that seems to really care about its customers. I'm looking to switch at least 100k miles of my business flying to HP in the next year. I hope they continue to vex the other major airlines and steal their passengers! Just my 2 cents!!!

parker, I think you're a bit stuck on HP's reputation. So far for 2002, HP is No. 2 in on-time percentage, next to CO.
If you've had problems with HP in the past, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised with the result if you give them another chance.

I have to agree. Took my first set of flights FLL-LAS-TUS-PHX-LAS-FLL (with stops in Tucson, and in Vegas on the way back). First class on all the flights, confirmed 3 days out for all the flights except the TUS-PHX leg. No food on any of the flights (two night flights and the TUS-PHX-LAS ones are too short) but I can't complain. Every single flight was on time. No hassle with upgrade "stickers", no purchasing upgrades, even got a free companion upgrade.
I now have a new way to get out west. Bye AA!!

Another good reason to fly HP from So. Florida is that they have the only nonstops to PHX. And even if you're connecting to the West Coast, I find HP offers "transcon-like" FC service on that flight, so you get a better FC experience than if you connect in DFW or IAH.
