Travel Technology - Can't find the Bose QC2

I'm going on a MR to Seattle (CPH-SEA) in mid February. My plan was to buy the Bose QC2 while there. Although SAS just announced that they will start charging for headphones for the IFE in economy class so now I want them before I leave (I don't own a two pin air adapter). I started to look around here in Sweden for the QC2. All of the Bose dealers says they are not allowed to sell this model and tells me that I should order them online from Bose US, but I can't find any Bose online shop that ships to Sweden!?

Only noise canceling headphones I have been able to find here in Sweden are these:
Sony MDR-NC-11/NC-5/NC-20
Panasonic RPHC100
Aiwa HP-CN5

I find it really strange that Bose should ban some of their products from a certain market http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/tongue.gif

After reading some reviews here on FT I have learnt that the Bose QC2 is really the best. Any ideas on how I can get my hands on them within 3 weeks? Or should I go for the Sony NC-20?

I happen to live in Boston (actually about 20 mins from Bose HQ), so I gave them a call. They were really of no help. They said you should call Bose Sweeden office:

Because the product is new, it is possible they are not available in your country yet. The local Bose office should be able to tell you.

Otherwise, if your coming to the US, you can buy them while your here, or have someone in the US buy them and ship them to you.

Thanks alot for checking it up! I gave them a call on that numer, guess what, connected right thru to the US customer service center. That is just a Swedish phone number which provides complimentary roaming to Bose USA. And as you pointed out, they were of no help http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/frown.gif
Anyway, would probably save alot of money if I buy them in Seattle (if in stock) instead of Sweden.

let me know if you want a discount coupon, I think it is 40$ off the retail price. I had a pair sent to my hotel in Chicago the other day, help for pickup. Crutchfield charges something like 5.99 for 2nd day UPS. So, you could just order and have shipped to your hotel in Seattle? They don't charge any tax either.

Thanks for your suggestion on Crutchfiled. Problem is that I’m doing a bedrun for stays in Seattle, so no more than one night per hotel, which could be a problem if they don't ship in time. I have found out that there is two Bose shops in Seattle so I might as well buy a set there.

Today I managed to get in contact with one of the Swedish Bose reps. The official reason to why they are not selling some products in Sweden is that they mainly focus on home cinema and high-end hi-fi systems only. She also said that I was welcome to call their central European sales office and they would be happy to ship from there. I called the number she gave me and got to talk to an agent in Germany. I asked for the price and was about to fall to the floor when she said "448 euro plus shipping", I said thank you and hanged up. US$ 299 is like half the price (with today’s exchange rate) and then I will even get a CD player http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif

That free CD player offer in the US is really good Gustav, I'm thinking of taking it up, better than paying GBP275 for the 'phones alone! Also in the UK it is very difficuly to obtain them except directly from Bose so not much chance of discount.

BTW if anyone knows of a good UK discount source for the QC2 please let me know.

Why don't you just buy them at the Bose store while you are in Seattle? I think that they still have a Bose store at Pacific Place (a downtown shopping mall), unless it has moved.

In fact, come to think of it, I think even Sea Tac (the airport) has a Bose booth where you can buy them...

I just got the QC2s and I love them. FYI, if you're tempted to get them because of the free CD player offer, rethink your strategy, because the CD player sucks.

Ebay...coming in at about $200

I'm back from Seattle, had a great time (even though TSA turned up-side-down to my checked-in luggage)!

The first thing I did there was to make my way to the Bose store in Pacific Place mall. And they had two sets left in stock of the QC2. The free CD player will be shipped to me in Sweden in about 2 months they said (great service since this was a US promo).
And after trying the QC2 on my 10 hour SK flight back to CPH I most admit that this is for sure my best investment for flight comfort ever! Had a good 6 hour sleep with these turned on (but without music), the comfort is superb!
