I have a trip to Europe coming soon. I wanted to get the Garmin Europe map program (either MetroGuide or other program) for my Garmin Etrex Vista. But it's very expensive, and I can't warrant paying that much for one trip. Anyone have the program?

You probably won't find a cheap version. However, if you do not need all the residential streets and the shopping, restaurants, etc. info on the MetroGuide, the Mapsource WorldMap does a fairly good job on major highways for Europe and the rest of the world.

I am having the same problem, and I SELL Garmin Products. I am trying to get my Sales Rep to comp me a copy of CitySelect for Europe for my iQue.

Interesting problem. Too bad there is no technology that would allow you to rent the software. Something that would allow the software to only work for a certain period of time and then stop working or automatically delete itself.

Probably not enough money in it to make it worth the research.

Thought I'd bump this up, as I have another trip to Europe coming up. Specifically, I wanted to see if anyone had city maps for the following cities that we could come up some sort of trade for:

Rome
Florence
London
Barcelona
Nice, France

Thanks.

Actually, it is quite easy to make do in most of the cities you list above by using the inexpensive plastic Streetwise Guides together with directions to where you are going from http://www.mappy.com/

I'm not familiar with the plastic Streetwise Guides. What are those?

These are pocketsized laminated in plastic city maps that I find invaluable because they are virtually impossible to improperly fold, spindle, or mutilate as you continually take them out for consultation and then put them back. They just don't start tearing and wearing out in the middle of your trip.
They cost anywhere from $5-7 and can be found at BN, Amazon, and other book and travel sites and stores.

i order a copy of Microsoft AutoRoute (the European version of Streets and Trips) from Amazon.co.uk (had to get it shipped to a friends house first) and it works ok. does anyone know of better PC based european road map programs that they can recommend?
