Travel Technology - Will a 120 volt auto-air adapter work on 15 volt DC plane?

I have an HP pavilion laptop that is 75 Watts, Targus has an auto/air adapter that is 120 volts that they say will work on a plane, but AA's web site (my preferred carrier) states that that their empower system delivers a max of 15 volts of DC. So, will the Targus adapter work? and if not, where do I find one that will power a 75 watt HP pavilion ze4430 notebook? tried HP's web site and various other searches but couldn't turn up anything, any help much appreciated

Option 1: http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=PAPWR300U (this one does AC AND Empower/12Volts)

OR

http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=PAPWR200U (this one only does Empower/12volts)

Both come delivered with the correct HP Powertip for your model.

Thanks for the info - those are exactly the ones I was looking at, just didn't know if they would power my notebook as it's 75 watts. Guess I'll go ahead and get it and see what happens http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

75 watts shouldn't be a problem, it's certain new models of notebooks with non-mobile CPU's that can draw as much as 200watts that won't run on it. Targus specifies that your specific model will work on it.

Sad when the **** power brick (and it IS a brick in this case) for those things weighs more than my entire notebook. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

Can anyone comment on how the Targus combination AC and auto/air adapter compares to the IGO juice? IGO still has not come out with an adapter tip for my new Dell laptop (D600, while Targus just came out with the appropriate adapter. I am not sure how long to wait for IGO.

Not much of a difference except that IGO IMHO used to have a few more power tips. But now Targus has 100's of power tips, for PDA's, DVD players, digital camera's etc...

Plus, Targus only used to have a DC adapter, now with their new AC/DC adapter they have a product similar to IGO. Advantage of the Targus one is it's availability and that some retail stores carry the power tips.

The iGo is ONLY 70 Watts. They claim to have a higher power coming soon, but they have been saying that for some time. They were also very late in release of the current model.

Best solution IMHO, and what I use, is the APC Travel Power Case. Does more the iGo Juice in that it can power three devices, mobile, PDA, and notebook all from one adapter. This is contained within a notebook carrying case and can be had for $100 at CompUSA, and Best Buy. Since this is still less then iGo even if you don't want the case buy and take their inverter out and use in your own.

Good for car, plane or world wide ac travel.
