Nah, it's always too hot in Singapore for any outerwear with sleeves, unless you're driving a motorcycle (and then you need to be wearing it backwards and unzipped)...
Straying slightly off-topic, I haven't visited Sim Lim Square since 1999 before the software crackdown. My recollection is that electronics in Singapore was not as big a bargain as one would expect (at the time I was looking for modems and PDAs and they seemed to be competitive but not a lot cheaper than US prices). The modems were actually a little more expensive then US prices.
So, what's hot at Sim Lim nowadays?

Just remembe to take the jacket off and put it through the x-ray machine at the airport security point. Immage trying to find and remove all the gadgets from all the pockets before walking through the metal detector!
The hustlers quickly set up cardboard tables and sell the same pirate software when the police aren't there! Prices are much better in JB.

An alternative that isn't so sweaty...

I have an eVest. The sleeves are removeable, and it's quite comfy. It's the ultimate techie-diabetic-roller-coaster-nut gear. Slip the glucose meter in one pocket, candy in another, cellphone in another, PDA in yet another, keys, wallet, etc., ALL securely zipped and not going anywhere on even the wildest of rides.
Admittedly when it's REALLY hot out, I still leave it at home.
There's a new "Sport" version that's even lighter, and apparently a new version with a hood is also coming soon. (Tempting for those drizzly coaster trips)

You're right - I missed the bit about zip-off sleeves until I went back a second timne and read more thoroughly.
But I surfed around the Dockers link and found the plain-front Mobile pants instead of the pleated ones the link takes you to. We'll see how they work on a trip.

Philips had a nice Levi's made jacket last year with a built in MP3 player, cellphone and all wiring and buttons hidden and woven into it, looked really nice but sadly only 1000 were made....
