America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - HP Club liftime rate hiked way up!
I bought a lifer three years ago at $1900. A great bargain, considering HP Club members have unlimited acces to NW and CO clubs.
Just check the new rates today. Life membership is now $3700.
I'm glad I got in when I did. (I'll be even hapier if another carrier honors those memberships if HP doesn't last).

Plus you never know how long you will be able to use the America West Club Card (formerly the Phoenix Club) at their partner's clubs (e.g., Northwest and Continental). Not sure it is worth the gamble. I still don't know what I am going to do with my worthless lifetime TWA Ambassador's Club card.

Worthless? Two free years and a discount for life is worth something!

HP must hike their fees to keep in line with the Presidents Club fees in order to keep the recriprocal access. When CO raises their fee which they did last year then HP must do the same. In 1997 I purchased my lifetime from HP for $1200. I think it is a good sign that the fees stay up which make it very likely CO will take over the clubs in case of the airline becoming insolvent. Between the three clubs HP/CO/NW they are the best of clubs gong. American/United do not offer a
comp bar and Delta/American/United offer no lifetime membership

Looks like the life goes on without access to the President's Club after September. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I wouldn't waste money on an HP club membership. Who knows what clubs it will be good at in the future. Only good at Pres club now through Sep. How long will it be good at NW.....? THen you'll be left with only PHX, LAS, and columbus.

One would hope HP would lower their rates to reflect the fact that you can only get into so few clubs. The deal with CO meant they had to raise them to the same price as CO had.

The problem that I've always seen is that HP's club big attraction has always been access to other clubs and not the location of HP clubs. I say no thanks. You can knock UA/AA clubs for not having lifetime memberships any longer or no free alcohol, but there are 40+ clubs worldwide and not 2.

I'm skeptical that this could help those who have already purchased a lifetime membership.
And what do ya think the chances are that they'd give refunds to those who had paid a higher price? yeah, right. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
