I found this reference on my firm's intranet so I don't have the article readily at hand. But, it does sound interesting.

A recent Wall Street Journal article discusses women-only hotels, noting that industry forecasts show women may soon account for 50% of the world's travelers. The story says that in Europe, women account for a quarter of business travelers, and the numbers are rising. And a 1999 study by New York University found that 40% of US business travelers are female.
The WSJ also looks at the needs of women travelers, including in-house amenities and security features.
The article cites Daniel Larkin, PricewaterhouseCoopers UK-based FAS consultant, who says women-only ventures make financial sense.
"Women are taking substantial roles in companies and they are traveling more on business. In more urban markets, with heavy business traffic, this is a niche that could be viable," he says. "But to stay competitive, the hotel still needs to provide the facilities that mark any good business hotel."
