Could anyone please confirm / answer the following ( sorry, i 'm not up to date on those info) :
- For 8-flight rewards Europe to Asia, can I mix CX and LX ? or any other company ? (interlining rules ? )
- where can i find the specific rules for those tickets in terms of "stopover / final destination" etc ?
Thanks for your help ! I'm trying to burn those miles before they become BAEC ...

Conditions for Free Ticket
Available on flights operated by SWISS (excl. charter flights) and partner airlines.
SWISS operated flights (excl. charter flights) can be combined with flights operated by American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia and Ukraine International Airlines.
Outbound and return flights, maximum of 8 flight segments.
One-way flights, maximum 4 flight segments.
Valid for one year from date of issue.
Cannot be combined with Companion Tickets and Upgrades.
Special Rules
Stopover
You can interrupt your flight once - either on the outward or return flight.
Available for all award tickets via your Service Centre.
Changing flights within 24 hours does not count as a stopover.
The final destination does not count as a stopover.
No stopover with one-way flights
Open jaw
You want to fly back from a different airport to the one you landed at: this is possible even if the airports are not in the same award zone (TravelClub World). The mileage price of the more expensive zone applies.
Available for Free Tickets and Child's Free Tickets (for round-trip flights only).
For Companion Tickets possible provided the route is the same for the person travelling on the paid ticket.
Open jaw not available for Upgrades.
Example:
Outward flight Zurich - Los Angeles return flight Hong Kong - Zurich
Side trip
The same city may not appear more than once in either the outbound or the homebound itinerary, even if the passenger does not make a stopover in that city.
Applies for all award tickets.
Example:
Zurich - New York - Zurich - London - Zurich
1st ticket: Zurich - New York - Zurich
2nd ticket: Zurich - London - Zurich
Zone jumping
Want to reach your destination via an award zone that is further away? Then the miles you need will be those for the more expensive zone. And you will need a second award ticket for the return flight. In case a flight connection can only be made on a partner airline via this further zone, the ticket can be issued at the lower mileage rate upon request.
Applies for all award tickets.
Codeshare flights
Definition Codeshare = flights that are operated under the flight numbers of more than one - usually two airlines.
Partner airline = an airline that participates as a partner of SWISS in the Swiss TravelClub frequent flyer programme.
You can spend miles on Free Tickets
if you book under a SWISS flight number and if the flight is operated by SWISS. Example: Zurich - London Heathrow LX316 (operated by SWISS).
if you book under the flight number of a partner airline and this partner airline operates the flight (there may be exceptions to this). Example: Zurich - Madrid IB3475 (operated by Iberia).
You can spend miles on Child's Free Tickets, Companion Tickets, Upgrades
if you book under a SWISS flight number and the flight is operated by SWISS (further opportunities are available depending on the agreement with the partner airline).
Charter flights
You cannot spend miles on charter flights.
You can read more on the Travelcub website - Program features

THanks Beepee - Do you, or does anyone know the rules for interlining , ie can I use LX with Any of the airlines above on one reward ticket, or is it just LX+CX "only" / LX+AA "only" etc ? Can I do, say, LX+IB+CX on the same reward ticket ? Thanks.

Last time I looked it was LX and one other partner on a single ticket (i.e. LX/CX ok, LX/CX/IB not OK) - There used to be an exception for FY but I'm not sure if it's still there as my last ticket was issued under the "old" rules (which did not allow non-QG partners to be combined).
Sadly though, given the reporting we've seen about falling standards on LX/SR, I've "voluntarilty" enforced this on myself for my final award - CX only.....

Ever since Qualiflyer has become STC, it's strictly LX + 1 partner only. Only other options are LX alone or 1 partner alone. 1 partner + 1 partner (e.g. CX/AA) and LX + several partners (e.g. LX/CX/AA) are not possible.

Thanks, beepee, but the "Side Trip" I got some good news and some (possible) bad news from your post. The good news is I should be able on an award ticket to fly from Zurich to Nairobi and then back to Zurich from Johannesburg. However, we're planning to do this trip beginning in Los Angeles, so in reading the "Side Trip" rules, it looks as though we can't do LAX-ZRH-NBO-JNB-ZRH-LAX. NBO to JNB would actually not be on the Swiss ticket, but ZRH appears twice based on that itinerary. Looks as though I'll need two separate tickets. Is my reasoning correct?

A few more questions :
- A stopover is <24 hours "sharp" , or do they allow you for one or 2 hours more ?
- can I do zrh-nrt-taipeh-hkg(final destination)-singapore-bkk(stopover)-mumbay-dubai-zrh ? (CX and LX) and stop in each city (except BKK and HKG) less than 24 hours ?
Thanks !

edited to clarify: A stopover is MORE than 24 hours. Less than 24 hours is not considered a stopover. I think that's what you meant?

Thanks ! </font>Considering that you can only use CX and LX, your routing would look like this:
ZRH-NRT LX
NRT-TPE CX (do they fly this?)
TPE-HKG CX
HKG-SIN CX
SIN-BKK LX (I suppose?)
BKK-BOM how do you want to fly this?
BOM-DXB how do you want to fly this?
DXB-ZRH LX
I see a couple of problems. First, does CX fly NRT-TPE? Second, I don't think either LX or CX fly BKK-BOM and BOM-DXB. Remember you can't go back through HKG again. And finally, I think DXB is not in the Asia zone and therefore can't be added without extra charge?? Not sure about this though... Does somebody know more?

The side trip thing kicks in if you do something like JFK-ZRH-LHR-ZRH-FRA-ZRH-JFK. In this case, ZRH-FRA-ZRH would be a "side trip".

CX does fly route BKK-BOM and BOM-DXB.
But it is not possible to make a stop WITHIN 24 hours with current or coming winter timetable.
You can download Cathay Pacific's timetable at following link.
This timetable is very useful since it includes all oneworld airlines and Dragon air schedules.

Yes, both for BKK-BOM and BOM-DXB.
You can find CX fare for these routes at Expedia and Travelocity.

They also fly BKK-KHI (Very interesting Business Class clientele).
Also useful is the BKK-SIN flight.
