America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - PHX-BDL, 1st class service?

HP recently reinstated service from Phoenix to Hartford starting sometime in April. My question I was wondering was weather 1st class is usually open on this flight or full? What are my chances of getting upgraded with silver elite? How is the servuice in 1st class? The PHX-BDL segment leaves around 10Am I believe and the BDL-PHX segment is around 3PM or so.

I can't personally vouch for Hartford, but upgrades to other east coast cities are non-existent unless you're on full fare or a lucky PLAT. I'm about 50% into EWR as a PLAT.

My mom used to fly that route about 3 times a year. Usually that was her only flying, so she never got any elite status. Though, 5 out of 6 times she tried to upgrade with a certificate from the Continental Prestige Pack, she was successful. The certificates can only be used 2 hours prior to departure. u can also upgrade on day of departure 2 hours in advance for a fee of $50-$150 if seats are available.
