America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Complimentary Class of Service Upgrade

I signed up for Corporate AWArds in order to get comp status with America West.
Along with the Corporate AWArds packet, they sent a "Complimentary Class of Service Upgrade" (DRS Entry: GGSLSFCUPGRADE)
Since I now have status with the airline, I won't personally need it... and it says that it is transferable... so I plan to give it to someone in my office to use.
My question: is this, in practice, valid on all fares or only on full Y?
The terms & conditions do say, in very small print and buried on the back, "Passenger redeeming the coupon must hold a full revenue Coach Class ticket."
This may be an absolutely obvious question (certificate is good only on full Y), but I thought I'd pose it here anyway for someone who might know more than I.
Thanks.

was there anything else worth speaking about in this packet?

nope
ditto -- nope.
the only benefit to the program is an easy process for comps and -- whoopdy-doo -- 5% off on tickets...

Well, it is a lot better than the programs that make you redeem points, like Continental.

I'll take the opportunity for a club membership over a 5% discount any day.
Being based in NYC and a member of both the HP and CO programs, I prefer the CO program.
I can turn my travel into a "perk" for me, rather than just get a discount.

the corpotate awards program is extra, on top of the normal Flightfund frequent flyer program, so you get both the discount and miles and elite perks including unlimited upgrades just like on CO.

so's the CO program... in addition to Elite perks and confirmed upgrades, you can earn the awards seen on this page:

is there anything like this for the HP program?

Getting back to the topic originally posted, I too am not that sure what the deal with the "Complimentary Class of Service" certificate is. This weekend I flew out of town on HP. Alreading having received my upgrade based on my elite status, I simply gave away the certificate to someone standing in the coach line. Coincidentally, the person turned out to be on the same flight as mine, yet was not in the first class cabin. I did not ask her what happened, but am a bit confused what happened to the certificate I gave her. Was 1st class simply full? Did she pocket it for another trip? Or simply can you only use it on a full fare, Y class, ticket? (as originally mentioned at the start of this thread) Any thoughts people?
The answer to my original question-- although the coupon said full fare only, I gave it to a colleague and he was able to use it on a discount ticket to upgrade LAS-PHX-IAD with no problem.
