In all of my years of flying, this is a first.
Buying an E-ticket on line for early summer, I could not get the routing I wanted in a connection from PHX-LAS. Instead of the 45 minute connection I wanted, I booked a 2.5 hour connection as it was all that was available at the price.
I called HP to re-arrange seats (hours after I bought the ticket) and the CSR asked me if I really needed to be in PHX for that amount time. When I told her it was all I could book on line, she said wait a minute, and then offered me the earlier connection.
The CSR saw I was a Platinum (on both airlines by the way) and made the change for me with no fee. She said it was "common sense, regardless of any rules" and that her HP bosses have recently instructed their CSRs to "use common sense when taking care of elite flyers".
The more I fly carriers other than CO, the more I see what their arrogance has taken from us.
