I hold a PHX-MKE RT ticket for a Friday-Monday trip in May. The flights were both red-eyes out of LAS, which worked great for my work schedule and minimized vacation time necessary. Of course, soon after I made the purchase, HP changed their schedule and eliminated all direct LAS-MKE flights. They have no late-night service between PHX and MKE, so they put me on earlier flights.
I have read their contract of carriage, and this is my question. According to Rule 240, if a schedule change results in cancellation of all HP service between two cities, they are obligated to either put me on another carrier or give me an involuntary refund. Does this refer only to direct service, or have they met their original obligation by routing me to and from my ultimate destination, just at different and less convenient times? I am curious if I have any chance at all to return to my original MKE arrival and departure times.
