America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Companion Upgrade

I just recently made Gold status on AmericaWest and I'm thinking about flying to LAS from DFW. Anyone have idea on the chances of getting a companion upgraded as well? What are typically the chances of doing this anytime on most flights?

Depends on the time and date of your flight

LAS is a usually a vacation destination with not too many elites on the flights

I dont think as a GOLD you can upgrade them prior to check-in, but check the rules on the website

A few years ago I got 2 OnePass companion upgrades on a flight out of SAN, the only problem was that one of my "companions" wasn't there. At the time HP was matching a $17 WN fare and a friend had asked me to see if I could check him in just to get credit for the 2 segments. At the ticket counter I told them that he was returning the rental car. His seat was occupied when we left, and he did get credit for the flight. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I just realized that my flight would be going through phoenix. Would that hurt my chances?
