America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - New Paid Upgrade Program

Effective Dec. 12, HP will offer paid upgrades on all flights beginning 4 hours before departure and up to 30 minutes before departure. The cost of these upgrades will be as follows -
0 - 500 miles - $50
501-1000 miles - $100
more than 1000 miles - $150
On connecting flights, mileage will be calculated on a point-to-point basis.

Has this paid upgrade program negatively effected anybodys' elite upgrade percentage?

No. I'm still at 100% for both long and short flights into both the PHX and LAS hubs.

Has not affected me either - I've only missed out on 1 U/G since December and that was beacuase I changed my flight back to EWR from Mon to Sun on Sat afternoon. When I checked in, I was the 6th Plat on the list - they pulled 1 up.
When I went to LAS and back before Christmas, both flights had entire families in 1st. I thought that was kinda strange.

As a Silver Elite member of HP, I forsee very few opportunities for paid upgrades as first usually fills up with Elites. If you try it out, please let me know how things go!
