This is now the 2nd year i'm an MX Gold. I did 50k miles to get to MX Gold in Sept 02, expiring Sept 03. Today I spoke with MX on the phone, they said, yes you've requalified in July 03 for MX Gold your status will remain till July 04 (by which time you'll need to do another min 50k miles).

Problem is, my current years status doesn't run out till Sept 03 (But because by July 03 i'd already done my 50k miles - they said, you've requalified till July 04 (ie 1 year from the date you requalfied)... This seems strange! That means if I had waited until say Aug or Sept 03 to reach my 50k, i'd get a few extra months... what experience do other tiered MX members have on requalification?

This seems pretty tough IMHO - ie means i'm really only getting status for 9 months rather than the full 12 months (because I already had status till Sept 03!, so i'd expect i'd continue till Sept 04... if this is the case, whilst I don't credit all my mileage to MX, it would seem I should really just credit to the the amount which is required up to an around the requal date each year....

Unfortunately, from my experience, Frecuenta works exactly as you were told by the agent. I have my Frecuenta Silver Card valid from April 2003 - April 2004, and this is the period of time I have to make 31,250 more miles to keep Silver, but if I manage to get them before April 2004, my status will only be valid for one year after the day a get the 31,250 status miles.

Would switching my address today still do the trick for this promo?

With Mexicana, everything is possible... if you qualify and you don't get the benefits of the promotion, just talk to Frecuenta agent and tell him your story that you are living in Canada or the United States, bla, bla, bla... never failed, at least, I have been able to get every benefit I qualified for!!!

They expire after 3 years of being posted to your account.
