I just made Silver on HP, and most of my flying is done from ORD. What are my chances at an upgrade going to the West.

Also, what type of upgrades on CO are available to me now?

Your chances are very good. If I have to give you a number, I'd say 75%. As always, at peak times (Fridays, Sunday evenings, Monday mornings) your chances are less. Going east to CMH, the service is operated by Mesa Airlines with no first class cabin (so no upgrade there). I've found LAS to be an easier upgrade than PHX.

You may upgrade Continental flights at check-in. The official rule is within two hours of flight time.

If you are traveling on a full Y-fare, you may be upgraded in advance. As a Silver I think it is 72 hours. If you were Gold or Platinum, you'd be upgraded at time of ticketing.

CO flys some significantly larger planes than HP... when booking your travel from ORD to the West (via IAH) take a look at the time table and aircraft...

try like hell to find an itinerary w/ a 757 out of IAH, I don't know what they use into/out of ORD...

on CO, 757s have 24 FC seats... this will at least give you better odds on an upgrade... and push for the upgrade out of IAH when you check into ORD, otherwise you'll never get it when you land in IAH with less than 2hrs to make your connection... they will usually be accomodating, that's at least my experience...

As a fellow Silver ORD flyer , I would rate your chances of upgrading as excellent. The only times I have missed an upgrade were on a Friday afternoons to PHX. Each time it appeared there were about 7-10 Elites that didn't get upgraded

Yea, if you fly HP flights you get the EUA. Which is day of departure for HP Silver. Continental, 2 hours prior for discount fare. 2 days prior for full fare.
