America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - itinerary change and price difference

I have ultra cheap America West ticket from Fort Lauderdale to Seattle and back. I was
scheduled to fly out on 5th of December, but I can’t do it right now. I would like to fly next year (probably in February).

After ticketing America West has made many changes to my original itinerary – practically all flight numbers and flight are changed.

Because of those changes they kindly allow me to use ticket as a credit for new reservation in the future (without penalty fee), but they want me to pay price difference. My ticket cost was ridiculous 80 USD and price difference will be tremendous.

Isn't here a way how i could just change my travel dates without paying price difference? By the fare rules changes are possible for 100 USD fee. Any advice is very appreciated.

There are 2 types of changes that I always do - 1) Change a whole ticket or 2) Change the return segment.

Every time I change the whole ticket, they charge me the $100 plus re-price the new ticket (I even had what appeared to be a new CSR re-price my $2300 'Y' class the other day, of course no $100 fee, or price change on that one).

If you change the return, there's no re-price, just the $100 change fee (assuming the same fare class is available).

It used to be that I could sometimes talk them into waiving these fees, but they're a lot less receptive to that nowadays. I guess they need the money.

Thanks. I have to change outbound flight. I am still in the other corner of the world (in Estonia) right now.

It is funny now!
I just spoke with another America West agent and I can´t believe my ears. They tell me now that in the future (after 5th of Dec) America West will not have any official record regarding my situation and only one agent or supervisor (Michelle XXXXX) will be able to do new bookings for me without penalty fee. Michelle has allegedly a "little book" where my name is written.

Is it real?? It must be a fairy-tale! What happens if Michelle quits? If she loses her "little book" with all those names in it?

America West also told me that I do NOT have to cancel reservation what I have for 5th of December (they practically encouraged me to be no-show). It wont be a problem, they say. Any thoughts???

A no show is easeir to re-ticket later - I do that one all the time too. If you actually cancel the trip, their computer system is more likely to send your e-ticket to some e-black-hole! Once I cancelled a return trip and re-scheduled it later that week. Ended up having to pay for a one way at the A/P home. I let my company travel dept (at the time) sort things out with them.

I think I'd get in touch w/ Michelle XXXX ASAP before antother round of Layoffs!
