Apologies for posting this in two forums, but a search has not found a lot...
I have a question as to whether anyone has had any experiences of Kenya Airways? I have a friend who is planning to travel to JNB with them in April - their Biz Class full flat beds look pretty good - but any ideas of service etc?
Replies much appreciated,
Kind regards
WG

Bumping this forward. Has anyone have any experience with KQ?

Good heavens! Had forgotten all about this post!
My friend has since travelled on KQ (LHR-NBO-JNB) and was extremely happy with the seating and service (although they are not frequent flyers they were able to compare with a single Air France Biz Class trip).
Lounge use at LHR was the KLM Holideck. Seating on-board the 767 was 2+1+2 (or a variation of this) - with full-flat (horizontal - not angled) beds. Privacy via small screens.
Service was reported as being very attentive. Amenity kits supplied (no pyjamas). Menu offered choice of three mains - IFE ok (nothing remarkable - think my friend said there were three of four channels working on the flight).
Lounge in NBO nothing remarkable - but improvement on having to wait in the main area!
Flight NBO-JNB on 737 - Biz class in 2+2 (fixed) seating. Separate cabin. Choice of two dishes (no printed menu).
Car provided in London (and NBO if stopping over there), but not JNB.
Friend was very happy.
Ticket price same as KLM Biz Class - however had the advantage of the flat bed.

Thanks. Thinking of flying KQ JNB-NBO-JNB for KL level miles next year. Might buy a cheap ticket and upgrade to BC.

Any recommendations as far as BC seats on 737 goes? Are they all the same? Is bulkhead legroom limited?

Is it safe to assume that Kenya Airways continues to use the Holideck in Terminal 4 for it's J passengers to NBO?

Yes, as of last November, KQ was still using the Holideck lounge at LHR.
Im interested in knowing if it is worth using miles for Business Class on intra-African routes on the 737. As ST Elite Plus, I already get lounge access...so only difference would be meal and larger seat. But, nothing that much better, right? No amenity kits or printed menus?

No amenity kits or printed menus? No and yes, respectively. Not sure how many miles a printed menu is worth, though. Personally, I'd say exactly zero.

I've been searching for threads on the T4 Holideck and it seems to get mixed reviews. We're US based and don't fly J so our expectations aren't too high. It's free for me on Priority Pass, but I'll be with a friend... is it worth springing $27 for him to spend an hour or two there, or should we just head to... well... somewhere else in T4?

It depends what you are looking for in a lounge ... if you both drink, the $27 is quickly paid for. If you are both tea-teetotalers, you are probably better off spending $27 in one of the T4 bars or so. After all, if you go to the lounge, both your drinks are free. If you go to a bar, you both pay ...
I personally like the Holideck. Snacks are better than most US lounges, and alcohol is plenty full. It's also quite spacious, with different levels, and you get free WiFi.

Ive never gotten the free wifi to work there, but they do have two computers, plus on the top floor there is an observation deck of the tarmac. Worth the $27 especially if you drink and have some of the munchies! (Lots of good packaged snacks!)

I have used the Holideck lounge two weeks ago, waiting for the departure of my Kenya Airways flight. I was not very impressed, the observation deck was closed and there was no snack selection to speak of. Also no free wifi as far as I could tell. Not much in terms of newspapers. I had free access with my FB elite card, but I would certainly not pay to use this lounge. Terminal 4 was quite a dumb in general, many shops were close and lots of construction going on.

No amenity kits?Having recently flown NBO-JNB (evening flight) and JNB-NBO (night flight), I must correct my earlier post. Amenity kits were distributed on both occasions. No longer the nice Africa-themed ones (with giraffes on the slumber shades), but still better than what you get on KLM, for example. The kits are the same as the ones you get on KQ longhaul flights.

Hi Arnur,

Unless something has changed, it's a hidden network, but there are signs posted to give you the network ID. It has worked without trouble for me in the past.
