America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Earning miles with Travel Vouchers?

I was planning on using America West travel vouchers for a future flight out to Vegas. Reading the terms and conditions, I just realized that they explicity state you can't earn FlightFund miles for these flights.

Has anyone found a way around this? Is it possible to earn Continental OnePass miles instead?

thanks

Since according to the rules you can't earn miles when travelling on a voucher, I wait till I get to the gate. Then, at the gate I go up the agent, hand them my silver card and ask " is my FF number in my record?" They reply "no" then add the number into my record.

I had 5 flights in January post for mileage credit automatically, all using Future Travel Awards.

The only hassle I got was at a CTO when the agent wouldn't put my FF # in the reservation at ticketing. The reservation lines add the # with no problem.

Several years ago, America West would give FF credit on a frequent flyer award, if you just sent in the boarding pass. Not anymore though.

I used a travel voucher at Xmas and did the trick of asking to have my frequent flyer # added at the gate right before take-off. I had the mileage posted to my account but then had it deleted 2 weeks later when they did an audit and found it. Maybe I was just unlucky and they stumbled across it. I hope so because I have 2 more vouchers to use...

You could always send your boarding pass in to CO. HP won't give you credit in their program, but CO gives miles for all HP and NW flights (even the Cybersavers).

motnot,

Thanks for the idea. I'll do that in the future.

OK, so earning miles on travel vouchers has been covered extensively here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif. How about Elite upgrades on tickets purchased with an America West voucher? Any experiences?

Thanks!

interesting experience I had recently-

i purchased a last-minute full fare coach ticket (I was flying home for my grandmother's funeral - the bereavement fare was 300$ more, go figure). I used an Air Care Check coupon, for 100$ off the price.

The agent told me that I could not accrue my onepass mileage using it (or any mileage for that matter) because it said on the back.

I looked on the back and it had two different things, in two different sections. One statment said I COULD accrue mileage, the other said NO. He was nice and let me have the mileage since it was contradictory wording.

Just a caveat for anyone who uses one of these coupons - if they try to give you trouble just read the fine print http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I have made 3 calls to the Flight Fund Service Center and of course received 3 different answers. The answers were no upgrades with Silverliner Passes. Yes you can upgrade with Silverliner Passes . This next one is my personal favorite. I was told to find a fare a little above the value of the Silverliner Pass. For example if the voucher has a value of 300 find a fare for 305.If I had to pay a cash difference I was told that it would be then considered a revenue ticket LOL. Anyway , I have always received Elite upgrades when using Silverliner Passes as long as the space was available.
