Any one flew Song yet? how does it compare to jetBlue... or is it pretty much "going down de hoooole" hehe... all the hype and no one talks about it anymore in the jetBlue and Delta forums.

Song only has one route thus far: JFK <-> PBI. I think it's premature to judge at this point.

I flew Song this morning from Orlando to JFK, and I was surprised how nice the inside of the plane was. Even though they haven't installed the personal TVs yet, the plane was very comfortable with new all leather seats and plenty of leg room between seats. (No I didn't bring a ruler) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Overall the flight attendants (or should I use Delta's new term "talent") tried, but they were only half successful with the canned jokes they read as part of the safety information.

No food was served (not even peanuts) but it may have been becuase I was on an early morning fliht.

Overall I was happy with the flight and I would fly song again. However, I do like the staff, TVs and planes of JetBlue better.

Hmmm, FAs who have to tell canned jokes, no snacks, no TVS. Hey, they have more routes now than I had thought.

The leather seats pose an interesting problem. Won't Delta passengers be annoyed that the good coach leather seats are only available for Delta's discounted brand? I think Delta will get burned for that.

I think the real test will come once Song gets its planes fully configured. Until then, its rather unfair to compare the two.

I can easily compare the flight attendants and the food selection. As far as I am concerned, the new TVs will make the Song's entertainment equivalent/slightly better than JetBlue. That is if they every get them installed.

But they still have their older planes, canned jokes and no food(at elast on my flight). I read that they are going to sell food on their planes.

However, when I have the choice, I will take JetBlue but I won't be paying a significant premium price for it. On the last few trips I have taken to Orlando, JetBlue's prices are almost $100-$200 more than Delta.

I flew SONG a couple of times last week from MCO to JFK and back. I much prefer them to Jetblue for many reasons, including their much superior frequent flyer program which of course is Delta's. A menu is provided and food is sold. Game boys are provided until SONG complete their on-board installation of their Video entertainment system in the fall. They have a good product with nice comfortable plane interiors.

This is their first week of flying between MCO and JFK, and I think that they will do great. They will get my support and dollars.

I would be interested in hearing a description of the menu and the items which are being sold. Moreover, I would also be interested in how many MQM's on DL you received for your flights.
As to their "superior frequent flyer program"-- hope you have taken the opportunity to look at the revisions to the DL Skymiles program at : www.saveskymiles.com (http://www.saveskymiles.com)

You can find the menu and prices on www.flysong.com. (http://www.flysong.com.) In regards to my comments about frequent flyer program, DL's downgraded Skymiles program is still better than Jetblue's.

Not to mention that Song also charges $2.00 for chocolate chip cookies. JetBlue does not charge for bottled water, chips, cookies, bagel mix, etc. I don't understand why Song would charge for bottled water and give away soft drinks.

Perhaps the complimentary Coca-Cola products includes Dasani? I can't believe they would only offer carbonated bevs for free and make you pay for water. (That is $2 for a litre of Evian.)

If not, then I can't wait to hear the shouting passengers!

How right you are! As a Delta Gold Medallion member I am indeed frustrated that Delta has decided to invest in a "new" low fare airline instead of upgrading it's poor coach cabins. That, in addition to their downgrading of the Delta Skymiles program, has resulted in me flying Delta a lot less this year.

Actually, Delta will eventually be an all-SONG airlines, so I wouldn't worry about it Tony.

I'm afraid you're absolutely correct, Jeff. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I jusft flew JetBlue BOS to MCO, and returned on Song. Here are my observations. Fortunately, my Song plane was one that had the new IFE. A Song flight attendant said that about 6 of the 36 Song planes now have the IFE installed.

JetBlue: All planes have the DirectTv. There is more leg room behind the exit row. Not sure how the seat pitch compares to Song, especially B6 rear cabin? Staff very friendly and professional. I had to change my flight, and B6 over the phone offered to waive the change fee even though I had not really asked them too. Even though B6 operating out of BOS for less than a week, you would not have known. BOS gate agent got on the PA and made a joike that we were bound for DTW. Also before closing the door the agent thanked all customers for flying B6, and said that they were pleased to be in Boston to serve us. I spoke to the person checking me in, and they came from another airline and indicated the staff was a mix of former other airline agents as well as people new to aviation. Snacks offered were two kinds of chips, biscody, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, animal crackers, and maybe one or two other items. I had coffee (which was good) as well as OJ. Did not check out the available cocktails.
Key Disadvantages:
*No web check in means you must wait in a ticket counter line;
*Limited route network for flying and redeeming awards; and
*No food available besides snacks.

Song: I checked in at the Delta ticket counter. I was charged the $25 change fee, but the agent was very friendly and helpful. The gate staff did not seem as friendly. They seemed to be main line agents trying to be like JetBlue. THey made some jokes about how cold it was going to be in BOS. This plane did have the IFE which was good. You need to use a touch screen in order to change from music to tv, and it appears you cannot make these changes from the arm rest console. Song supplies ear bud headsets, where as B6 supplies a simple over the head set. Again, the FA's seemed to be main line wanting to be different. One announcement they made was that the plane had this new cool entertainment system, but they did not want the passengers to forget about the crew. Also they tried to make a joke about how Song usually had the best flight attendants in the industry, but those had not boarded. Song offers free CocaCola products, as well as water. However, you must buy any and all food you may want to eat. I purchassed an Asian chicken salad, Pringles chips, and two Song Sunrises (mixed drinks). Also got one small bottle of water for free, and the FA did not charge me for one mixed drink. Total bill I paid was $14. Also with Song you can pre-order meals and browse menus on the web site. FA's also provided a wet napkin with plastic cuttlery.
Key Disadvantages:
*Staff still evolving from main line big six mentality. E.g. hit or miss service especially on the ground;
*For discounted Song fares, you earn only half Delta MQM credit for Medallion requallification;
*No snack of any kind for free; and
*The IFE is more involved to start up, and you must use a touch screen to access many functions.

jetsetter, how similar were these one-way fares? Given your two flights, have you made a preference for one over the other? Or are you good with both? Just curious.

Both my Song and B6 tickets were about $86 each. Also, because of work, I was not able to make the original dates of the trip. B6 waived the change fee almost without me asking, and DL charged it (though maybe they did me a favor not chargina an add collect, the check in agent was very nice).

I also looked in to a short notice BOS to MCO trip. Fare on B6 about $175 roundtrip, Song wanted at least $335, so I booked B6.

I do like the idea at least in the short term of flying with Song to get the 2 for 1 tickets. Also Song sells food where as B6 only has the free snacks. However, all B6's planes have the tv setup, where as only a handful on Song. If Song had priced out (not in T class) for $150-$200 I would have probably bought the ticket from them due to the 2 for 1 deal. However, I'm not going to pay hundreds of dollars more for Song, and this way I'll have tv service for sure. Also B6 has free same day standby, where as Song has $25 same day confirmed. Song has some interesting cocktails like a Song Sunrise, and I have not yet checked out B6's cocktails...but I will http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif. So they both have some things going for them.

Does anyone know if Song is the same as Jetblue in this regard? or are all rows pretty much the same on a song plane?

Just flew Song PBI-JFK. All rows (save exit) are pretty much the same. No improved seat pitch like B6.

Haven't flown either enough, but based on my limited flights, I enjoyed B6 much more. Among the positives are: good snack selection, friendly crew, and improved seat pitch beyond the exit row. Song seems very "forced" in a way. I think they try to hard to be cute and hip.
