... David Neeleman was a 32-year-old flush with big bucks — he'd just cleared $25 million selling his share of Morris Air — but he was also miserable.... "Then I realized money is not the most important thing in life. I wanted to do something that matters. I wanted to make a difference.... So ... I decided I wanted to create the best airline in the business." ...

WHOA-

they hinted at it in the middle of the article. "moved our little family of 9 kids (?!!) out of salt-lake"

by the end they come right out and say it.

"Because of our upbringing here in Utah and our religious upbringing, we really have different values and principles," said Neeleman. "But those values really do play well outside Utah."

I assume you were being humorous, but since there were no smiley faces, I'm not completely sure. Thus, in case you were serious, I need to point out that JetBlue is a publicly-held company. It is owned by its shareholders.

JetBlue is run by an LDS member. That hardly makes it an LDS company. If you really want to go there, SkyWest would be a 'mormon' company as well.

Both very successful...makes you think http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

...and Massachusetts would be a Mormon state.

(Mitt Romney, governor of MA, is an LDS member. He fitted right in when he organized the Salt Lake Olympics...!)

I watched a rebroadcast CSPAN of a presentation David Neeleman made at Northwestern in April, 2003. This was my first exposure to him and JetBlue. I have to say that I was very, very favorably impressed with him, his business philosophies and JetBlue's accomplishments.

Remember a carrier called "Morris Air"... Southwest purchased them from Neeleman (early 90's?). Would you classify "Morris Air" as a mormon airline? Southwest didn't...

Who cares? I'm just hoping I can see some (female) flight attendants dancing in subway cars! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cool.gif
