America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - What to do with my points
I have about 14000 HP points. I am not an HP fan so I don't expect to fly with them again. I also don't want to start flying CO (nothing against them but I am a loyal AA fan) and I don't want to put all my hotel & rental car points into HP. Is there anything else I can do with these points?
thanks

I have teen K miles on two airlines. After I make Gold or Platinum on AA this year, I am planning to purchase a credit card for one of the others that has a 5 or 10 K bonus, charge enought to bring me up to 25K and get an award ticket. Really just to use up the miles. <shrug>

Does HP have a program where you can donate miles to charity?
If you fly BA to Europe, you can put the miles into HP's program (since you can't put them into AA). A DFW-LON flight and maybe a hotel stay would get you up to 25,000.
Then the free flight has some value - you can use it as a gift to a friend or relative if you don't want to fly it yourself.

I had the same problem. I added hotel & car rental points to it and got it up to 20000, thumbed my nose and took the 20000 mile flight. I will never fly them again

Jae, you can take 10K of your miles and get an upgrade for me! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
Other than that, you can spend them on magazines or ... well, that's about it.

MSP 2000 has the solution, I think.
Allocate your hotel and rental auto miles toward HP until you have enough for a ticket. Do note that you can also fly on CO, NW, BA, or TWA if you really dislike HP.
Donating the miles to a charity would be a considerate option and this was also a good suggestion.
Thanks for the input everyone. I think I will bite the bullet & build towards 20000.

i did the same. i spent the overage on milepoint, no matter what a bad deal it was, and got a reward ticket on CO flights both ways. i called up with a reservation on CO, and they ticketed me no problem.
it was a little too easy, or it felt that way, but i was heaps pleased and now i wash my hands of them.
Gwen, do you mean you were able to redeem HP points for a CO flight? That sounds like a pleasant alternative. If that was the case, did the ticket cost 20K or 25K?
thanks

If you have any ClickRewards points, you can transfer them to A.W.
