America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Paid Upgrade Question
I'll be flying OAK-PHX on a cheapo ticket published fare). Does America West have any possibility of a paid upgrade similar to Alaska where for $40 gets you into first for a tip up to 1000+ miles. I know most airlines require you to have elite staus to do this.
Any thoughts? Thanks

Yes, HP does this. I believe it's something like $35 per 500 flight miles, or maybe per 1,000 flight miles. No elite status is required. Or at least these used to be the rules a couple years ago when I once inquired.

Never heard of that on Am West, but you never know.

Don't waste your money (even if you can pay for upgrades) or your miles. There is limited meal service (if any) on HP flights from Oakland to Phoenix. Maybe if it's breakfast time, you'll get a sweet roll that they remove from the plastic wrap and place on china, or a cold pasta salad in a wine glass. Yipppppeee!

What Nobbi, you're not already booked in 1st? Good way to economize! When are you coming out?

Oh, well. The just must suffer!
Flew in the back of the plane--literally--with a rather large person sitting next to me taking half of my seat and a screaming infant across the aisle.
