America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - No longer earning HP elite miles on Continental?
I heard with a fright that starting in 2001 sometime, America West wlites cannot earn miles on codeshare flights with Continental. This is a major bummer for me, as I just purchased tickets to Puerto Rico for my family (I'm Gold, the other three are silver). We would earn substantial bonus miles with these flights, and these flights would also help us to qualify for Silver for next year.
Can anyone confirm this rumor?

I have heard that the relationship is "strained", however I have not heard that they are going to discontinue the elite mileage credit.
Do yourself a favor - mail a photo copy of your HP elite card to CO and have them match the status. That way you're protected next year.

There has been no mention of this anywhere, lkuby. Both CO and HP would give notice if this were to happen, plus they would "grandfather" in tickets up to a certain point. What is your source, because it almost certainly is wrong?
My source was a friend, who heard it from a Continental gate agent. I called the Continental Silver line and they confirmed that this information was wrong. Sorry to set up the flares. Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see AW and CO sever their relationship in 2001.
As far as matching my elite status with Continental, I already did that in 2000. I don't think that they match 2 years in a row. Having shared status doesn't really protect me, though; as I need to focus my miles on one airline.....
