America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - 20K miles on America Worst and...

...i need to DO SOMETHING with them. I can't seem to use them to get to the West Coast, even trying the old trick of flying out of EWR so that i'd be almost sure to be on CO. I need to go to either SNA or LAX (ONT would work, but, yeah, right, frequent-flyer seats?), and i just got CO elite again so i'm not gonna blow it for an upgrade i'd get anyways.

I'd really like to never ever ever ever fly HP again. I'm mostly a CO flier and occasionally see TW planes; i don't think i can use my HP Flight"fun" miles to do anything on TW, especially with only 20K. What was i thinking with this airline? Oh yeah. I'm totally confused so please explain. If I understand you, you have 20,000 miles on AWA. During July and August you need 25,000 for a free trip, but during the "off season" you only need 20,000 so what is the problem? Please clarify.

Basically that good 'ol HP claims no reward availability any time between the last week in January and March, which is my travel window.

I even tried EWR-SFO, EWR-PDX, EWR-SEA, and the like. Try it all again with BDL, BOS, and ALB as starting cities, and you'll get the same answers.

HP miles can be redeemed for CO flights, so ask HP about CO flights only. Or better yet, just call CO and see if they have seats and reserve, then tell HP which flights and your confirmation number and let them then get them from CO.

Also, HP flies into LGB. Maybe that would work for you.

As for getting upgrades on CO with your status, unless you just made platinum elite, it's hardly a sure thing.

And, yes, i made plat, actually. Barely, this year, but a few Newark to London runs did the trick, and i had to go to Missouri a few times toward the end of the year, also. Love them Embraer regional jets. I can sleep through takeoff and landing and they let me sit in the keen grey seats.

I'll play Mileage Bingo on Tuesday. I'm so used to The Way Things Work on CO that any other programme flusters me, so that's great advice. Let's see if it works, in which case it's stellar advice. Thanks again!
