As part of a promotion for the AWA credit card they are giving me two free passes to the club. I have never visited an airport club. Can anyone tell me anything about them so I don't look like a total idiot using the. I would be using airports only at JFK, Phoenix or Las Vegas for that airline. Help anyone????

The club passes are good for you and a guest to enter the AWA club(s). The clubs are a reasonably nice respite from the terminal if you have a long layover.
Essentially, you get some snacks, drinks, etc. and a queiter place to hang out while waitting for your flight.

The Clubs are wonderful and convenient, too. They're glad to issue boarding passes, assist with changes, etc. Checked luggage must be curbside or at the ticket counters, rather than in the clubs.

I have not used these boards much because I'm not that big a flyer but I must say you people are the nicest, quickest, sharpest ever. Thank you so much for the all the info. I checked it all out and am exceedingly appreciative of your help. Hugs from Brooklyn, New York

I was an HP Club member in 1999, but did not renew in 2000 because of less travel. I highly recommend the clubs, but have one caveat... use those passes like silver bullets!
I had two passes (CO Presidents Club) and used my last one during the massive weather problems in PHX. The terminal Customer Service line was a mile long, and I was facing a 6 hour delay. The HP Club allowed me to use the passes, and, when I discovered that the rerouted flight was not going to work for me, they gladly reaccomodated me the next morning. Here is how the HP Club helped...
Respite from the crowds.
Free phones with data ports. I was able to get into the internet and find out more about my flight than the agents in the airport were telling.
Free drinks.
A very accomodating desk agent that was happy to do anything should could to help.

Once you have used the pass for a case like this, you'll want a membership!
