I just realized I'm very close to finally qualifying for AA Gold. I figured out that I'll earn around 22,716 miles for flights I'm planning up to 12/31. Question is does anyone know of a good MR to do from either DCA in the next few weeks or from NYC in the next few weeks that's going to earn me the 2,300 miles I need...obviously a West Coast run is a good idea but I need to do this on a bargain fare...5 Eagle flights would do it....any ideas?
Any help much appreciated!
Thanks

Try LGB. I just booked a MR for $215 jfk/lgb mid-week for mid-December. Also try looking at any routes that AA competes with JetBlue. Good luck
This weeks NetSaaver to Santo Domingo ex-JFK would work, and it prices out to about $250.
You would have to stay at least 2 nights in SDQ.

DCA-MKE starts at $128+. It can be routed DCA-STL-MKE-ORD-DCA for a same day return. This would be cutting it close though (2331 miles). Add BOS/NYC to your routing and you're home free:
03NOV22 AA4956 DCA-LGA 0900A 1005A
03NOV22 AA1757 LGA-STL 1100A 1255P

03NOV22 AA5651 MKE-STL 0425P 0544P
03NOV22 AA5705 STL-DCA 0655P 1003P
$173.00, expedia.com

Thanks for the advice on the MKE run. Suited my budget and can do it on one of my days off. Got a fare of $168.50 on AA.com so using routing of DCA-STL-MKE-STL-DCA. Would have preferred to go through ORD (never been on the F100) but decided to err on the safe side with the extra 100 miles on the STL flights. Plus, since it's AA.com I'll get the 1,000 mile online booking bonus. I'm happy.
I could have done a BWI-DFW-BWI but it was Saturday service only for like $159 and there's no MARC service Saturday...and BWI is a pain to get to from Arlington.
Law School is a pain in the rear end....but my thinking is that a day spent in the air will be a day well spent reading cases etc. that I haven't.
Thanks for you help and suggestions! Finally....first time qualifying elite!

It's funny you mention BWI-DFW. BWI-DFW will give you double bonus miles (http://makeashorterlink.com/?D23E13666) before Jan 31. Someone here noted that for BWI-FLL, a BWI-DFW-FLL routing was possible and BWI-FLL starts at $118. Of course, you said DCA. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif At any rate, I'm glad things worked out for you.

JFK-SAN is the same price as LGB. I dont know the LGB flight details, but they have a redeye option on the SAN -> JFK portion, and has a late afternoon flight from JFK -> SAN.
Also look into SNA (santa ana/orange county)
