Well I just found out that I'll be a "bachelor" for the last weekend in May (5/30-6/1), so I thought that I would do a mileage run on UA. Although I dropped from 1K to "General Member", I have a few miles in the account and thought that I would top it off to a free ticket. So I'd like to build an itinerary that takes advantage of the 2K bonus status miles per segment (4 each way) and the maximum base miles. I've tried to build it out, but it's not working for me. So here are my fabulous prizes (choose one):
- $5 Starbucks Gift Card
- FREE movie/game rental from Blockbuster
- FRIENDSHIP from me!
Now please, no fighting over these gifts - first come, first serve http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
I run from SMF for under $200 would be nice - if they still exist. Of course as a backup I could always leave out of OAK/SFO. Heck, it can be a FT weekend if others want to join.

Travelocity has a SFO-IND fare on UA, $123, which you could do as a day-trip on May 31. There is also a day-trip to Dayton for $143 for the same day.
I don't know if they can be booked on ual.com
Good Luck!

Also, take a look at:

and see if UA matches anything there.

The cheapest I see on United's website for a coast to coast deal is Fri May 30, 1:54 pm oak-ord-jfk, returning Saturday 5 pm lga-ord-oak for $267.50. There seems to be no decent fares for Sunday, either

The problem is the close proximity of the intended travel dates. All these $123/143 fares west-coast to the midwest were all 21-day advance purchase fares.
Hence, without those, all fares jump to well over $300. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

When once you have experienced being a 1K, you will forever fly the friendly skies with your eyes set on 100% mileage bonus and SWUs, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return, every year!

Hmm...in the first part where you refer to bonus status miles, that would have to be a V fare or higher. That's not totally incompatible with under $200, but pretty darn close.
Which is more important to you, lots of miles or status miles?

Lots of miles yes, but I just want to make sure that I max-out (16k) the status miles available on a single roundtrip.

I hope I am misunderstanding the issue, the neophyte flyer that I am, but are you actually looking for a 16,000 FF mileage run for under $200 on a Memorial Day weekend???????, or am I missing something?

Yep... it's called 'The Great Offer.' Run a search on the UA board and you'll find the all the gorey/confusing details.
