Need a good deal of miles on DL to make the next level of status this year (all my miles have been on UA this year). Looking for something out of the bay area on thanksgiving weekend--international flights would work as well. Thanksgiving day would even work. Any help or routing suggestions would be rad.

Thanks,
tyler

Define a good deal of miles please.

Would any Sky Team carrier work?

10,000 plus would be ideal and any SkyTeam carrier would work.

On Thur morning (Thanksgiving day) take a trip from OAK to JFK. The return will be Fri afternoon. You can get a triple connection each way for about $297. That gets you 5885 base miles (connecting in DFW and ATL one direction, SLC and ATL the other).

Uh oh, here's where it falls apart. I was gonna suggest nesting a shuttle RT on Friday morning, but that is pricing at $236. It is worth 3K base miles with the triple shuttle promo. But it's not the bang for the buck I was expecting. And timing is tight. Basically, for good DL mileage runs, a trick these days is to load up on shuttle segments. 3K base miles (plus other bonuses) per RT is nice on weekends for $115 or so.

Another option is SFO-JFK same day RT on nonstops. Do it Thur and Fri for about $700 combined. It's not great cents per base mile, but if it gets you to the next status level, it might be worth it. Also, you sleep at home both nights.

Edited to note that I see you are BOS based. Not sure if you are actually living in Bay Area. If you are indeed living in BOS, you should pick a day on the weekend to do shuttle runs at $115 per for 3K base miles. See DL forum for more info, a few people there have done them.

If all your miles have been on UA this year, I'm not sure how 10K DL miles are going to get you any status! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Well, I have 13,000 to date on DL and taking a trip on AF BOS-CDG-BCN in a month for the holidays. I'm just trying to get some extra miles under my belt to make Silver Med. I would really like a quick Asia trip.

Are you booked on the DL codeshares for BOS-CDG-BCN? That will net you almost 8,000 miles r/t.

He would get base SkyMiles even if the ticket was on AF. But honestly, I wouldn't bust chops just make Silver on DL.

Well, a variation of the Shuttle Run concept:

DL has a $125RT Denver--Boston that allows routing via DCA-LGA-BOS.... so a couple of these from DEN should work.

Or, BOS--DCA is now pricing at $134 plus tax with a LGA connection.

$114 round trip plus tax buys BOS--LGA--DCA--CVG--DAY and return.

The possibilities are endless!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Good luck, Tyler!

Where can you book the BOS/LGA/DCA/CVG/DAY fare? delta.com doesn't do triple connections, and SMS certainly doesn't want to help you book this...
