OK Folks. Here goes.... **crack**crack** {knuckles cracking}. The Messiah speaks:

1.) Get the AMEX Sheraton Starpoints card for you and significant other. (you must have at least 10,000 credit limit to pull this off)

2.) Sign up for the Citi/Fi $100 offer through: www.Gomez.com (http://www.Gomez.com) or http://www.citifi.bridgetrack.com/n39.htm.

ALSO, sign up your wife/fat husband/or your disobedient 13 year old hormonal daughter .

THUS>>>>> 2 Citi/Fi acccounts = $200.

3.) *ImportanT*:
To fund the first Citi/Fi account (yours) use the AMEX Starwood card and charge $10,000.

Repeat process on the 2nd Cit/Fi account (wife's) of charging $10k on your wife's own AMEX Starpoints card. (this can be simplified further if you gave your wife an AMEX card on your OWN account, THUS she doesn't NEED her own account cuz she has yours!).

SO >>>> Now you have $200 promo dollars, 20,000 Starpoints. If your wife charged $10k on her OWN card>>>>>>> then that means you have 10K Starpoints & she has 10K Starpoints.

GOOD THING IS THAT IN SUCH A CASE STARWOOD ALLOWS YOU TO CONSOLIDATE STARPOINTS WITHIN THE SAME HOUSEHOLD.

So......now you moved her 10K Starpoints into your Starpoints account. Total NOW= 20,000 Starpoints!

NOW WHEN YOU TRANSFER THE MILES INTO ALMOST any AIRLINE (1:1 RATIO ON MOST), STARWOOD WILL GIVE YOU 5,000 BONUS MILES!!!! Total: 25,000 points!!!!

SO TO RECAP......NOW YOU HAVE $200 & A freeEEEee DOMESTIC FLIGHT! [ whoo! **** i'M GoOd http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif ]

=============
Now if your smart enuff, you can easily pull out 50,000+ miles on this maneuver (no more applications necessary).

I won't tell you, so don't ask me [hint: it involves you & your significant other, & the Citi/Fi application--account funding section--investigate that page thoroughly http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif }.

If your resourceful, you'll figure it out in a heartbeat! Good luck! (otherwise just live with the free domestic tix dammit)

(I, however, is goin' to Ibiza, SPAIN with my blonde huber GErman girlfriend in August--on 50k Starpoints)

Thanks CITIBANK! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

The promo code is: n39.

Remember that you can charge up to $40,000 per application on 4 credit cards. That's 50,000 Starpoints if you can swing it (per application! amazing! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif)with AMEX thru gameplaying, otherwise you can foot it on an United, Delta or other miles cards for the balance of what you coudln't put on the AMEX Starwood card.

Milagegod - Thanks

Now I am just hoping a double miles offer such as Click Citi (double miles promo went through 5/31) comes along soon before I sign up.

I heard a rumour that a new enhanced AMEX Starpoints card is coming soon. Maybe that will have double Starpoints initially.

If anybody hears of such a card with 2x miles, please advise.

Interesting indeed! Forgive the simplistic question, but could this be used with non-AMEX cards? (Like my AAdvantage card?) I know Starwood would give extra points, but if MC/Visa is also treated as a charge that would be easier for me.

Thanks!

nope. Citibank's AA credit card treats it as a CASH advance & NOT as a charge (Citibank is the only ones that treats it as a cash advance).....go with AMEX, Delta, United charge cards & the like.

The max is $10,000. But you can go way lower than this if you don't have the credit. It works much better if you can MAX out what Citibank is willing to hand you.

How does one get the AMEX Starpoints card?

craz
Jul 11, 00, 10:56 am
KEEP in mind the following;
1)this is for 1st time customers ONLY (dont know if opening a joint acct will be OK if you have an individual one already)
2)its for a checking acct
3)must keep the $$$ in the acct for 60 DAYS once its offically opened, means once they receive your signature cards so figure on 75 days
4)1 bonus per customer

still not bad but make sure you can handled the float for 75 days, myself I find logging onto CITI/FI opening the acct w/o the bonus in a money mkt acct allows me to pay off the cc when it comes in with the $$ I opened the acct with, since I have various accts w/Citi/fi I pay off the cc's with 2 checks from 2 different accts. NET NET the 10,000 miles I get by charging it to my CC each time plus any % earned NO BONUS but then I dont have to lay out any $$$ just know when your CC statements start so that youll get around having to pay for it 1-2-3. And the MM pays 5.85%

By applying for it, of course! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Welcome aboard! Look for Sheraton Startpoint card (http://home1.americanexpress.com/apply/fmac.asp) under "I know which card I want" and click go.

Also check out ValueConsumer Credit Card Page (http://www.valueconsumer.com/CreditCards/CreditCards.htm) and ValueConsumer Finance Page (http://www.valueconsumer.com/CreditCards/Finance.htm). CompuBank's Visa checkcard is an excellent non-credit card option to earn Starpoints (via ClickRewards).

MileageGOD - FYI

I called CitiFI and they said the initial deposit transaction (charged to a Citibank credit card) would be treated as a purchase, NOT a cash advance. This conflicts with your post that it is treated as a cash advance.

Therefore, Citi AAdvantage card gets you NC miles too!

Ok , dude, take the risk. I KNOW for a FACT from other threads on this message board, THAT PEOPLE INDEED GOT THEIR INITIAL DEPOSIT ON CITIBANK'S AA CARD TREATED AS A CASH, CASH, CASH ADVANCE---NOT AS A PURCHASE!!!

If you call Citibank, you'll get a different response EVERY SINGLE TIME. Once you become a PLAYER like me you'll find out things aren't as simple as they seem.....In the end, you'll be the chump having to pay a HEFTY cash advance. LOL!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

My experience with funding Citi account:

When I opened a saving account with Citi for the free palm pilot. The customer rep asked me if I need to fund the initial amount with a credit card. She WARNED me to check with my credit card company to verify if it is a cash advance purchase!!!

To avoid the hassel, I used my Compubank card

How can you really find out if your credit card company treats it as a purchase or a cash advance before making a deposit ?

I thought about opening a CD for a couple of months, but don't want this to show up as a cash advance on my card.

Can a customer service rep at the credit card company really answer this ?

(I have the Starwood Amex, and several other airline cards.)

Zipual,
the imfo that it must remain for60 days is in the small print @GOMEZ.COM. I added the extra days since thats how long it took them back in Dec to get my acct going after they finally sent the signatures to me.Citi/fi doesnt consider the acct open till they receive your signature cards.

your attitude rather STINKS,if your sole intent is to HELP others there is NO need for the words you use in your postings.
I for one have been doing this for a couple of weeks b4 you came along only not via GOMEZ. so you didnt really come up w/any GREAT discovery,I had unfortunatly used this yrs date as the expiration date of my CC so it didnt go thru and it took Citi-fi 2 weeks to find out the reason.
so please continue to post if you can indeed use proper language and not try to reduce everyone here on these boards DOWN to your level.

craz
Jul 12, 00, 12:22 pm
as for using ANY CC. from what I was told by CITI/FI they do indeed put it thru as a TRANSACTION but wont be liable if your CC treats it differently.(Seems it can go thru a few banks b4 yourCC-bank gets it). However the best way to AVOID it being a CASH ADV is to open the acct for more than what your cash allowance is. eg. your cash allowance is $5000 open the acct for at least $6000 that way it'll be DENIED by your CC if they want to treat it as a cash trans since if for more than your LIMIT so AMEX told me.If they treat it as a transaction it'll go thru as long as its not above your limit. If it goes thru as CASH and its above your limit you have grounds to get it all wiped out since it shouldn't have been processed to begin with. I also asked if I applied for $6000 and $5000 is my limit will $5000 go thru of the $6000 the answer AMEX & MC gave was NO its ALL OR NONE.
hopefully the above imfo will help out,but please check with your own CC people and make sure.Better to be safe than sorry,at the least one can refuse to pay the charges since the VENDOR listed it as a transaction they dont have the right to change that,I awhile back used that argument in such a case and had the fees % etc removed but who needed the hassles.

mmackin
Jul 12, 00, 12:30 pm
You could just call the CC company, and have them lower your Cash Advance limit to Zero. That way your certian not to get charged. That's the safest way I think. Otherwise some companies will up your limit to help the transaction process.

Mileageboob69,
Oh great and heavenly messiah, forgive me but, I take great offence from your recent postings. I am annoyed at the lack of respect you have shown the friends I have acquired at this site. Flyer Talk forums and the participants, have helped my family acquire in excess of two million frequent flyer miles in just the last six months. I have a great deal of respect for these people. I know you believe that your advise is something we should all value, but it is not something any of us take seriously.

You claim to make as much money “in two to three weeks” as anyone else in this group makes in a year, and have more insight into frequent flyer programs than the rest of the participants put together. Just answer one question and try to do so in a civil manner because that is the way I am addressing it, whether you deserve the respect or not.

Why is it that you did not open up five $10,000 money market accounts at CITI/FI and have your wife open up five more $10,000 money market accounts? You could do it over a five day period, open one account each day for each of you, use the AMEX, and receive 125,000 miles along with a competitive interest rate. Why cut yourself short? Certainly a man of your means has $100,000 line of credit on his American Express card! This should be something easy for a man like you, after all, you are the man who is a man!
