Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but I’ve done some searching, and wasn’t able to find the answers.
I’m trying to book a United LAX-AKL itinerary (August 2002 outbound) and am trying to decipher the fare rules to maximize my mileage (obviously.)
(Fare rules are MLXPX3 or MLWPX3)
1. This isn’t a mileage related question, per se, but the rules are littered with “SEE TEXT RULE”. (Sections: OTHER DISC, COMBINABLTY, APPLICATION, etc.) What does that mean?
2. More importantly, there is no mention of MPM anywhere in the rule. Does that mean none exists?
The rules state 10 online transfers are allowed. What is stopping me (or rather, how do I pull it off), to then route LAX-ORD-SYD-AKL or something along those lines, to maximize my mileage? When I plug in such an itinerary into ITN, it prices out, but at higher (~$300 more) than the LAX-AKL version.
Should I be able to get a crazy routing at the same fare? Or does the absence of a MPM or listed routing simply mean UA will let me route anyway I want (e.g. via ORD & SYD) as long as I pay extra for it?
(p.s. Hope I’m making sense, as it is past midnight.)
(edited to clarify)
