I'm planning to fly ANA in the near future, and I was wondering what seats I should choose on a NH7/8. As far as I can see, ANA don't have their seat maps online anywhere.

Does anyone know if there's a seat map list anywhere online?

I'm assuming they don't have personal video in economy class, so it's hard to know where the screens will be without access to seat maps.

Kremmen, did you try ITN?

It should show the seat map.

I'm not an expert on this but if it is 777 or what they call Super Style aircraft, you will have personal video monitors in economy as well.

And NH7/8 is SFO-NRT, right? I think they have switched to 777.

Chiangi-san

All equipment serving the US (incl. the 744s) are "Super Style". They all have personal videos in Y...

Kremmen:
I would recommend emergency exit seats. (I don't have my timetable nearby so I can't tell you the row numbers) The first row of Y tends to be very bad in terms of legroom because the space between the divider and the seat is not enough for you to stretch out.

If you have any other questions re. ANA Y service then drop me an e-mail. I don't think Chiangi-san goes on Y Cls, ever... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Hope you enjoy your flight and write a trip report, if you can! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I am flying F Class to London next week and I called the ANA office in HKG to arrange a seat. They told me that they couldnt do that because their configuration is always changing and that it has to be done at Check-In at Narita. Does anyone know what types of config they have. What do they look like ?

I have been on the 201 in First before and in fact just got my ticket for that flight in First for later in the year.

The seat assignments can made ahead of time but you should get a supervisor to do it for you. I find the first level of staff at ANA too rule oriented and the rules they adhere to are a bit too strict sometimes. Keep pushing and you will get it.

Seating configs on the 201 route should not change at all. HKG-NRT may change, and I know the SFO flights change quite often, but the European routes stay pretty much in line with the plan.

Seating in First looks like:

1A 1C 1H 1K
3A 3C 3H 3K
5A 5C 5D 5G 5H 5K

This should show as Seats A, C on the left side of the aircraft, seats H, K on the right, and D,G in the middle at the back of the First class cabin.

Hope that helps. You should have a great flight. Their service is second to none in the air I think.

Mike

MJM, Thanks for the info and advice - will look forward to the flight. Just out of curosity you mentioned that ANA sometimes changes the config on Asian and North American Routes. Would do there other F Class look like do they have more seats. Do you have an idea if they are planning on installing suites ?

I do not know what the configs are right now, but if you would like I can pop over to the local ANA office and get a copy of the seating plans and post it to you. If you would like that please e-mail me a snail mail address. Or if you need a fax for expediency, then a fax number would be good.

Suites, no. They do not need them with the Full Flat seats they use. I think of SQ, LH and NH for Asia Europe routes, you could do a lot worse than the current full flats on NH. Plus if you like football there is enough room betwen the seats to have a decent run around. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

MJM - Thanks its no biggy I can get it next time I am at NRT or near the ANA Lounge. Really Appreciate your help. Kind of Surprised that ANA is not thinking of installing suites since JAL started doing that I think last year.

Francisliang:

The NH201 NRT-LHR equipment (almost) never changes. It is not possible to pre-reserve 1A/C as it is reserved for VIPs and only released at checkin. 1H/K is left open although if there is an infant requiring a bassinet you will be pushed off.

It really does not make a difference which seat you choose because all seats have enough room for you to walk out from the window seat even when the seats around you are in "full-flat" position.

I think the equipment HKG-NRT is usually also 747-400 and they have the same config as the one that serves NRT-LHR. But I guess sometimes they change the equipment to 777 (bad news) and then the config will be different.

Just a quick question; How much was your ticket?

Stargold,

When you head to the PiP are you likely to be on the 201? I will be and we could get the party started a bit early.

True enough about 1 A/C, but on the printout I got from ANA in Tokyo 1 H/K are also not able to be allocated early. Best I could do was 3K. I thought they were also for VIPs. Interesting point about the infants. Did not know.

My cost: Exactly 140,000 miles and zero cents. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I did NRT-LAX in early Feb. in F and could get 1A and 1H assigned weeks ahead. I just asked for them and they didn't say any restrictions on pre-flight seat assignments, pehraps because of my status as Plat. with NH.

This was the first experience in F with NH and my frank impression was it was marginally better than CX's long-haul business class -- except the seat -- but nothing more, which tells how good CX is.

If I am not mistaken, NH is one of the first carriers (perhpas THE first) to introduce flat-seats and was quite innovative. Its business class was a 2-2-2 configuration in the beginning but one column was added a few years later.

stargold, are you sure all flights to U.S. cities are now SuperStyle? I thought the one to Dulles is different.

Stargold :

Just to answer your question. I purchased a Star Alliance (29,000 Miles) RTW F Class from HKG. It costs around $ 6500 USD.

Thanks for your info on the ANA Seat. I really dont have a preference to where I sit, best thing for me is if the seat next to mine is free =)

Chiangi-san:

Yes, you're right... as one would expect http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I totally forgot! NRT-IAD is indeed non-SuperStyle

Surprised to hear about the NH F class experience. I might have to choose another carrier for my first F Class trip! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif (paid for with miles, of course)

and mjm:

I will already be in England when the PiP happens, so... I can't join you on the 201! Besides, I would not be able to handle the jealousy when you turn left at the door and... I embark on my 5 minute walk by turning right... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
