Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - Short 6k miles for AS Partner 60k award - what happens at auto ticket time

I've got 54k in my account and have an AA European Award (60k) that will auto ticket on Monday. I have a regular pattern of atleast 3k per month from credit card going into the account.

Before I call to try to get an answer on this - does anyone know AS policy on this? Will they let me go 6k negative on the basis of future miles to earn? Will the just cancel my reservation?

At the time of booking I mentioned this to the partner desk and they did not seem too concerned.

The miles have to be in your account by Monday or it will cancel. They won't let you go negative, so you'll either need to buy the 6k miles, or wait and rebook in 2 months.

Forgive me for being naieve, but what is an 'auto ticket' award?

Rather than having a reservation automatically cancel at the end of a certain hold period, Partner awards will automatically ticket if not cancelled over the phone.

Shelled out the $171 to buy 6k miles online

Atleast I got the flights I wanted into and out of Rome in September - nice work there!
