I booked an "RCC crawl" on UA OAK-X/LAX-X/PHX-X/ORD-IND-X/ORD-X/MSP-X/DEN-OAK; fare basis WE7A1N3. Last week this priced at $232; it's now $235 due to $4.50 PFCs being collected for MSP and DEN. Ouch. 5579 status miles and eight segments.

tvl4free: even though the fare rules said "TRANSFERS - 8 PERMITTED OUTBOUND 4 INBOUND 4," the reservations agent wasn't able to price nine segments (-X/DEN-X/LAX-OAK). I did use a 20% discount certificate and a $100 travel certificate to bring the add collect down to $95.42--50.4% of which goes for taxes.

Anyone knw if there is a central list (maybe FAA) that for each airport lists what it's PFC is? Would be curious to see which airports took the increase.

Does anyone know the offical reason for the increase?

BTW is the excise tax (think 7.5% now) actually used for any airport stuff, or is it just being collected in the gov't trust fund? One slant I read back when the PFC's were first introduced was that the aviation trust fund was off-limits because it was being used to offset the national debt on the books, so the PFC was introduced so that airports had some real money they could use for improvements.

This is the official page, but it's not as "helpful" as I'd like:
