Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - Was told upgrade awards did not change till 2/18: note in my record...now won't honor

I know this is a little iffy...but when they announced that some of the award redemptions would not take effect until 2/18 there was some initial confusion about the award upgrades. I called the milage plan and I was assured that these awards would not go up until February 18th. When I questioned the CSR ( based upon what I had been reading here) she said she was so sure that she would make a note in my record that would assure AS would honor the 5000 mile upgrade till February 18th....what service I thought... especially after if came out a while later that she was in fact wrong. Any way I called this morning and tried to book an award and was told it was 10,000 miles one way... I asked her to check my record and the CSR confirmed that a notation had been made about the date confusion and honoring the 5000 miles upgrade till the 18th.... but that the original CSR was wrong and she would/could not honor what the CSR had written... should I take this farther or am I acting like a little prince?

IMHO, the agent was wrong and made a mistake. we all make mistakes. although you have a valid argument that someone guaranteed something to you, that still doesnt make it right. i for one would just accept it was a change effective jan. 1st and let it go.

incidentally, why didnt you have her upgrade you at the time by pulling the miles so only 5000 miles were pulled? if i remember correctly, when you upgrade using miles the miles are pulled at the time of the upgrade. why was this just noted in the record at the time?

I was positioning myself for a future trip that was more than 331 days out at the time...now I am in the "window"....

For what it's worth, there was some internal discussion on what would be done when it came to bookings such as yours, and even with customers who had booked their 5,000 mile upgrades and were now changing flights and/or dates.

The initial indication was that the 5,000 mile level would be honored, but upon further discussion the official policy handed down that any changes (or new upgrade requests) made would require the member to go up to the 10,000 mile level.

Unfortunately, the agents do not have the latitude to make exceptions on this.
