Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - Berevement Flight Change

I am AA Gold...flying to Hawaii this Friday on award points...
My Grandfather passed away yesterday and the funeral is Friday. I had to change my flight time and they have charged me a $100 change fee. Any thoughts on getting around this?

Hello, and sorry about your grandfather's passing. I'm not sure why you are posting in the Alaska forum if you are AAdvantage Gold. Do you mean AS MVP Gold? If so and you have redeemed an award ticket on American using Mileage Plan, you are usually exempt from change fees on award tickets, regardless of the reason. Call back and you should get a different answer. Welcome to FT.

I'm thinking you must have meant to post in the AA forum. Alaska doesnt fly to Hawaii, and even if you were using AS miles for an award on one of our partners that Does fly to Hawaii, we don't HAVE a $100 fee for any of our changes....and besides that, we don't charge a fee for date changes to an award reservation in the first place.
