Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - Use guest u/gs on own low fare itins?

Apologies if this has already been discussed here, but I just received my 2004 MVPG packet and am wondering if I can use the 4 guest certs to u/g my own low fare itins (when U space is available) rather than taking a chance with the new waitlist procedures. [If so, I don't think I'll be quite so quick to give them away ;-)]
Also, in the envelope with the certs was my new card, but no NW certs. Do these come separately/later, or did I get shorted?
I don't see why not. I just used one to upgrade a flight long before my 48 hour MVP window. Managed to get the last two U seats that way.

A MP Agent told me I may want to consider keeping my Guest Upgrades next year even as a Gold and upgrade myself at time of booking in 2004 for discount fares on the trans-cons I usually take. Waiting for upgrades on the trans-cons is never a good thing...

Apparently the guest upgrades are now more valuable than the complimentary MVP Gold upgrades.

You can not use the MVP guest upgrades to upgrade yourself on flights booked using AS50's though.
The NW upgrades come in late Feb early March. I think last year mine came the second week in March delayed because I live in Canada. Last years are good until the end of Feb.
